While this year’s season of MasterChef Australia is still a few weeks away from crowning a champion, it’s safe to say that Laura Sharrad is a winner regardless of whether or not she takes the title. The 29-year-old restaurateur won a reward last week, which saw her Sticky Date Pudding & Butterscotch Sauce Ice Cream being mass-produced and sold on Coles shelves across the country.

Not only was the ice cream praised by the show’s judges, who called it “tremendous”, “fabulous” and “absolutely genius”, but it’s also been a massive hit with buyers. A Coles spokesperson tells Yahoo Lifestyle that the product has been flying off the shelves since its release.

“We’ve had an incredible customer response following the launch of Laura’s MasterChef challenge Sticky Date Pudding & Butterscotch Sauce Ice Cream. After just one day, it has become the number one product in the Coles freezer aisle,” they share.

“Given the amazing day one success, we expect this limited-edition ice cream to sell out fast. So, if you want to savour this deliciously nostalgic treat, head to your nearest Coles store and grab a tub while stocks last.”

Laura, who became the third contestant to win this iconic challenge following season 15’s Rue Mupedzi’s BarbeRue sauce and season 16’s Sumeet Saigal’s InTALIAN Simmer Sauce, said in a statement that it’s “a dream come true” to have her product stocked on Coles’ shelves.

“I’m incredibly honoured and beyond excited to have won the Coles Ice Cream Challenge!” she said. “This sticky date pudding ice cream brings such a warm, nostalgic taste that so many Aussies will know and love, and I can’t wait to see people across the country enjoying a scoop (or two!) this winter.”

While Laura’s ice cream has been receiving rave reviews from shoppers online, many people have taken to social media to complain that it’s not available at their local Coles.

“Has anyone in Melbourne (preferably northern suburbs) been able to find Laura’s ice cream? Have literally searched every single day in a few different Coles, but either they haven’t stocked it yet or they’re selling out,” one person wrote on Reddit.

“Tried two different Coles (Maroochydore and Nambour), neither had any stock, still haven’t been able to find it and nothing on the Coles app either,” another commented, while a third said, “Can’t get any in Gisborne or Sunbury in Victoria”.

“My local Coles didn’t have it either!” someone else replied, followed by a different user who said, “This happens every year, never managed to get my hands on any of the tie-in products, and I live in Western Sydney (so there’s plenty of different Coles to check)”.

Coles has been busy responding to fans on social media, noting that the product is currently available for purchase in-store only, while stocks last. However, this doesn’t include Coles Online, Coles Local, Coles Express, and selected stores without a freezer promotional bay.

Shoppers can contact Coles Customer Care on 1800 061 56 or message @colessupermarkets on Instagram with their local store info to check availability.
