EXCLUSIVE: It was “a no brainer” for powerhouse host Samantha Armytage to make her grand return to television for The Golden Bachelor.

In an exclusive and unseen video, Sam said she jumped at the opportunity to take the hosting reins of Australian TV’s newest love story.

“I was talking to Channel 9 and they said ‘what do you think?’ and I thought, ‘great, this is interesting and this is a really great, fresh start for me too,’” the host said.

After its massive success in the United States, The Golden Bachelor is now set to make hearts flutter across Australia, inviting viewers to witness a modern twist on romance for the golden years.

In this heart-warming series, Golden Bachelor Bear will embark on a heartfelt journey to find a soulmate, with Sam guiding him every step of the way as he seeks a partner who can share the joys and adventures of life’s later chapters.

“I think ultimately there’s a lot of hope in this show and that’s what drew me to it, that’s what I like and I think that’s what we want to bring to people,” Sam said.

It presented a very exciting opportunity she “grabbed with both hands”.

“We’ve never seen anything like this, so it was a no brainer for me to jump on board with this,” she shared.

Speaking to Today hosts Sarah Abo and Karl Stefanovic, host Sam teased that audiences can expect things to be “raunchy” at times.

“These 20 women are quite spectacular, they’re very successful and so funny and they’re boomer so they’re cashed up,” she joked.

In a previous video, Sam revealed that what makes The Golden Bachelor “a standout” is that the participants all have “life experience and are genuinely looking for love”.

“They have amazing stories to tell and they’ve really lived some experiences,” she said.

“Some of them have children and grandchildren so they know what life’s about and they know what they want now and there’s a real power in that.

“There’s quite a few differences with this show, so it’s very exciting.”
