This year’s season of The Block is one of the most challenging that viewers have ever seen. Although the contestants have been given luxury caravans to sleep in and plenty of tradespeople to assist with their renovations, the fact that all five houses are the exact same size has forced them to think outside the box to differentiate themselves from their co-stars.
This has resulted in secret rooms, alternate layouts, and plenty of bold styling choices to stand out from the crowd – as long as their ideas aren’t copied. Some teams are also building their home with a distinct buyer in mind, with House 2’s Han and Can turning one of their kids’ rooms into a nursery, and House 4’s Sonny and Alicia designing bedrooms for two young boys and an older girl.
Buxton Ballarat director Mark Nunn, who is the listing agent for House 3’s Britt and Taz, tells Yahoo Lifestyle that while it’s important to target these Daylesford homes towards families, some contestants have made the mistake of being too specific with their approach.
“Some of the contestants are really drilling into really young kids, but specifically trying to target an age bracket of a kid is, I think, the tricky part,” he says. “Because you can produce a house with a girls’ and a boys’ room, but then the family might have all boys or all girls. So that’s always a challenge.
“But I think at the same time, making the rooms still versatile that they can pivot in different directions [is important], and I think that’s where House 3 is really nailing their brief on that regard.”
Britt and Taz notably took out the win during kids’ bedroom week as the judges praised their colour palette, layout, and unique bedhead, and neither room’s functionality was catered towards a specific age or gender.

How involved are real estate agents on The Block?
While he’s yet to make an appearance on The Block, Mark explains that he has been “highly involved” with Britt and Taz’s renovation journey since they approached him in the first week of filming.
“They reached out to us, we went out and met them on site, and then we sort of just hit it off, and away we’ve gone since. It’s been really good,” he shares.
“It’s been an enjoyable experience, it’s been something different, and now the listings are live on Domain, so the campaign itself is starting to get buyer inquiries on House 3.”
Who will likely buy a house on The Block 2025?
Mark adds that he and his team helped brief House 3 on who their end buyer might likely be, and they took it on board with their design.
“Our brief to Britt and Taz is very much around the high-end Airbnb type buyer,” he details. “Daylesford is known as the spa country of Victoria, so a lot of people get out of Melbourne and go to Daylesford for the weekend just to rejuvenate and relax.
“It’s pretty broad, but with a lot of high-end Airbnbs, you are typically targeting families a lot of the time.”
