The competition has barely started yet this year’s Blockheads had to make a critical call.
Before them, stood five near-identical houses. The house they would choose to renovate could play a huge role in winning an extra $100,000 and ultimately The Block.
But after a history-making House Decider Challenge, not every team was happy with the house they got – as you can see in the video above.
One team’s dreams are shattered on the spot. (Nine)
Of the five houses this year, two have a flat roof and three have a gable (pitched) roof.
Perth couple Han and Can “were gunning” on pitched-roof House 1.
The others were simply “not an option”.
As the results of the House Decider challenge were announced, Houses 1, 3 and 5 were quickly snatched up.
“Are you joking?” said Han. “OK, now I’m going to have a meltdown.”
Partner Can was put on the spot and in a shock call, chose the “wrong” house.
So while the other teams were celebrating, Han and Can were having a tough time with their decision.
“It’s ugly,” protested Han. “It’s so ugly… I hate it.”
The girls were struggling to pivot with the new plan. (Nine)
Will Han and Can make the most with what they’ve got?
How did the Blockheads decide which team got what house on The Block 2025?
Getting the house you wanted could mean the difference between winning or losing on Auction Day. (Nine)
This year’s House Decider challenge was like nothing contestants had seen before.
Day one of The Block 2025 coincided with Daylesford’s annual ChillOut Festival, the longest-running pride event in regional Australia.
The teams were given two hours to design and build a float – which they would show off front-and-centre during the festival’s parade!
The judges cheered the teams on from above. (Nine)
Judging those floats were returning Block judges Darren Palmer, Shaynna Blaze and Marty Fox, who for the first time would be meeting all five teams in Episode 1.
Who won the House Decider challenge on The Block 2025?
Taz are you sure you haven’t done this before? (Nine)
Britt and Taz had the “brilliant” idea of nicking the Block sign from The Block HQ.
The couple brought the vibes, the energy and their Budgy Smugglers winning them first place.
As winners of the challenge, they got first pick and chose House 3.
Emma and Ben are feeling the love. (Nine)
Emma and Ben paraded their “rainbow, vomit disco” float down the street in front of thousands of locals and visitors.
Coming hot in second place, they chose House 1.
Robby and Mat are clearly in their element. (Nine)
Robby and Mat were feeling the Daylesford spirit.
Their “disco cowboy rainbow pride” float earned them bronze. The couple chose House 5.
Han and Can landed fourth in the challenge. (Nine)
Han and Can’s float was called “Built to thrive”. Their construction themed build scored them fourth place, they chose House 2.
Sonny and Alicia finished last but still with a smile on their faces. (Nine)
That left Gold Coast couple Sonny and Alicia, who were the first to admit they are not “very creative” and nor very good dancers.
In the end team yellow were given House 4.
