The guys from BPM Sports pulled off quite a feat for Montreal Canadiens fans. During the show “Le Retour des Sportifs” with Martin Lemay, they had Roman Rotenberg on for an interview.

The man who is both the boss and head coach of SKA had high praise for Ivan Demidov, and also had very kind words for the Canadiens organization overall.

However, he let slip a very interesting hint.

When the guys asked him the real reason behind his decision to allow Demidov to come finish the season in Montreal, Rotenberg was first very clear that no money was involved, and he mentioned two individuals with whom he had very good communication throughout the year.

Two individuals who seem to have had a huge impact in this matter, and who appear to have truly convinced him to make the decision he made today.

Rotenberg naturally mentioned Kent Hughes, but also.. the name Vincent Lecavalier!

Wow, I found it really interesting that he specifically named Lecavalier.

I imagine Nick Bobrov had a role to play as well, but Rotenberg clearly named Kent Hughes and then Vincent Lecavalier.

Vincent Lecavalier played a major role with Roman Rotenberg and SKA

We strongly recommend listening to the full interview, which aired on BPM Sports around 3:00 p.m.
