I believe you’re all now well aware of the regrettable act committed by Niko Mikkola at the end of the game against David Savard and the Montreal Canadiens.

He really lost it.

Even though the game was clearly over, he took a slap shot, head-high, from one end of the ice to the other, and hit David Savard in the process.

In short, he was penalized by the NHL for his action.

But this matter is far from over.

A second “penalty” apparently awaits Niko Mikkola

As noted by the excellent TVA Sports journalist Anthony Martineau, don’t be surprised if Mikkola receives a second “fine” tomorrow night starting at 7:00 p.m., and this one might hurt a lot more than the one announced by the NHL.

Michael Pezzetta to deal with Mikkola?

If Arber Xhekaj is in the lineup, it’s obvious he’ll want to send a message to Mikkola, and if he isn’t, Michael Pezzetta could very well do it..

At least, according to Georges Laraque:

“No need to play Arber Xhekaj against Florida tomorrow.. Michael Pezzetta will drop Niko Mikkola, according to Georges.”

Georges mentions that you shouldn’t change a winning lineup, so Xhekaj should stay in the stands, but he also believes Pezzetta can drop Mikkola, despite his 6-foot-6 frame.

Laraque emphasizes the “code” and believes that back at home, messages will be sent, and Pezzetta is there for that.

To be continued tomorrow!
