2025 Australian Idol winner, Marshall Hamburger, is preparing to perform in Adelaide for the first time, as he headlines this October’s finale of the revived South Australian talent show, Search For A Star.
Marshall Hamburger, fresh from his Australian Idol win, headlines the revived Search For A Star finale in Adelaide.
But before this kicks off, Marshall will be on the judging panel at the competition’s Semi-Finals tonight, Wednesday, August 27th.
Marshall Hamburger, nicknamed “Burger Boy”, has captivated the nation with his charm and musical prowess. Judge Kyle Sandilands called him “a seasoned genius musician,” and Amy Shark referred to his transformation, saying he “morphed into a superstar.” An unforgettable highlight of his Australian Idol journey was a duet with Leo Sayer on “You Make Me Feel Like Dancing” that demonstrated his natural skills for retro-pop and his ability to turn classic tracks for a modern audience.
Coming off a sold-out national tour, Marshall, along with his eight-piece band, will perform at the Search For A Star Grand Finale on October 3rd. This event has historically been a launch pad for new talent. It originally ran between 1998 and 2007 and helped kick off the careers of artists such as Orianthi Panagaris and Wes Carr.
Tony Rocca and Teresa Bruno started Search For A Star at Fellini’s in North Adelaide, turning it into a significant fundraiser and talent showcase. In its previous run, it raised over $250,000 for various charities. These included childhood cancer research, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, and Foundation 21. This year, the competition was re-launched, and the selection process has included several months of heats, which will come together in the upcoming finale.
The grand finale will see finalists compete for spectacular prizes, including a paid performance on a Vietnam Mekong River Cruise, valued at more than $20,000, a session of two days in a recording studio, and a share of a $50,000 prize pool. Among the competitors is 12-year-old Keegan Power from Adelaide, a dancer who recently had the opportunity to perform alongside pop star Katy Perry.
Teresa Bruno shared, “We’re thrilled to bring this talent competition back to life. The talent coming through has been exceptional. We’re so excited for the final showdown, which is set to be incredibly entertaining and unforgettable, all while supporting a very important cause.”
The Search For A Star competition is a fantastic platform for local rising stars, and totally something you should get behind. And if you’re keen to see Marshall in person, tonight is the perfect opportunity!
So head on down to The Founders Restaurant for an evening that’s sure to impress!
