The finale of MasterChef Australia is fast approaching, with six contestants left to battle it out for the $250,000 grand prize and coveted title. While viewers will have to wait a couple more weeks to see who will go head-to-head in the final episode, it appears this year’s winner may have already ‘leaked’ online.

Betting agency Sportsbet has listed three-time competitor Laura Sharrad in the top spot, with her odds sitting at 1.15 at the time of writing. The talented chef has famously placed runner-up in two previous seasons and returned to the competition this year, determined to finally win.

Meanwhile, fan favourites and previous runner-ups Callum Hann and Sarah Todd have odds listed at 5.00 and 10.00, respectively. This is followed by Depinder Chibber at 11.00, Jamie Fleming at 13.00, and Ben Macdonald at 15.00.

MasterChef judge Andy Allen recently confirmed that the series films alternate endings each season to prevent the results from leaking, and only a few people behind the scenes know who the actual winner is before the episode airs on TV.

However, one of this year’s contestants tells Yahoo Lifestyle that it was “obvious” which of the two finalists won the competition.

“They definitely filmed multiple endings, but because we witnessed both, for me anyway, it was fairly obvious who it was,” they share. “There were certain signs with one particular contestant that they definitely seemed like they won.”

In the lead-up to the much-anticipated finale, several contestants have told Yahoo Lifestyle who they hope will win this year’s season of MasterChef.

Snezana Calic, who was sent home earlier this week, said: “Every cook that’s left in the competition is incredibly strong and the level of cooking this year has blown me away. But if I had to pick someone to cheer for, it’s my girl Depinder. She’s not only an amazing cook, but a great friend.”

Alana Lowes shared that Ben is a “dark horse” in the competition, but she thinks Callum has what it takes to go all the way, adding: “His way of creating Michelin-quality desserts is incredible. Then I’d also love to see my Queensland mate Jamie take out the crown. I’m torn, I want them all to win!”

Rue Mupedzi said that out of the remaining finalists, she’s rooting for Ben, Depinder and Laura, but “at the end of the day, everyone is a winner being asked to come back to MasterChef Australia”.

Season 15 runner-up Rhiannon Anderson revealed that her top pick is Sarah because “she’s so inventive and creative with her flavours”, while Cath Collins said she would love to see Callum, Sarah, or Laura win because it’s their third time competing.

Savindri ‘Sav’ Perera, who was recently announced as a judge on MasterChef Sri Lanka, agreed that she thinks one of the three-time competitors will win this year’s season.

“When we were at the beginning of the season, just looking at the level of experience that they have, you knew they were going to go far,” she remarked. “All I can say is it’s literally anyone’s game, and it literally could be anyone out of those guys.”
