Gather round, Blockheads. I’ve been sitting on some secret intel (forgive me!) and I can finally spill it all.

But I’m getting ahead of myself! Okay, so The Block — heard of it? This renovation reality show is coming to a close, the rooms are done, finishing touches are being touched (??) and the big auction is on the horizon.

So whomst is going to win???

Based on the room wins alone, two teams have outperformed the rest: Mat and Robby have won four rooms, along with Britt and Taz.

Emma and Ben, plus Han and Can, have each won two rooms, while Sonny and Alicia have lingered at the top of the leaderboard multiple times, they have only won one room.

Based on past seasons, the team with the most wins often takes home the big prize.

Okay, 2024 was complicated by Adrien Portelli because the winning team (Maddy and Charlotte) didn’t win the most rooms, but were essentially selected by the billionaire who bought all the homes.

On The Block in 2023, Steph and Gian won the most room reveals, with a total of five wins throughout the season. The previous year in 2022, Omar and Oz also topped the leaderboard, winning four rooms.

And ding ding ding, both teams got the highest offer at auction.

This means it’s more than likely that either Robby and Mat, or Britt and Taz, will win.

And now… my secret intel.

Guess what? Months before the finale and before The Block started airing, I got to spend hours walking around the finished houses and I can confidently say that there was only one house that had serious wow-factor.

I really think Mat and Robby have this one in the bag.

What struck me was their backyard and alfresco area — it just looked expensive. And no shade to the other teams, but it was giving ‘rich person’ energy on a much higher level.

If I were a buyer with a lot of money (can’t relate), I would remember Mat and Robby’s house the most.

The details elevate this from a house to a luxury home.

Thanks to winning a huge Trendz fireplace and a Dreamcourt pickleball court, this home is selling a whole damn lifestyle — and that lifestyle had dollar signs.

The inclusion of a retractable shade cover over the pool adds to the luxury feel.

The gym is another huge highlight. “Can I say this is perfect?” Shaynna said about the boys’ home gym.

And of course, the boys’ wine cellar is every bit as boujie as you expect it to be. Robby gave me a tour of the space and I was stunned by the refined interiors. This is the fancy life I was supposed to live!

“They swung hard, but this is a home run,” judge Darren Palmer said before the boys won alfresco week.

Is their home perfect? No, but none of the houses are tbh. (Sorry not sorry!)

Their choice to install a Euro laundry in such a huge space was an obvious mistake.

“In Europe, a lot of properties don’t have the space to have a proper laundry. This has the space, and we are looking at a Euro laundry. Makes no sense,” Marty assessed.

Their rumpus room was a flop too, as judges Shaynna Blaze, Marty Fox and Darren Palmer scolded the “low effort” room.

The colour palette of the kids’ room also came across as way too mature.

But these are relatively minor and fixable issues that I don’t think would deter buyers too badly. With a slight redesign, some different wallpaper or a fresh paint job, a lot of quick improvements could be made post-sale.

Their successes far outweighed any of their failures.

In particular, the main bedroom stood above their competition, thanks to the boys adding cathedral-like skylights positioned above the four-poster bed — in person, it was super grand and gave that luxe feeling.

The judges generally loved the boys’ bathrooms, even crowning one “the Goldilocks bathroom” because it brought together all the best parts of the other rooms into one space.

The spaces that arguably matter the most to buyers — the living room, dining room, bathrooms, main bedroom and outdoor area — were largely nailed by the gents.

To be clear, I am not a real estate agent (although I was a real estate receptionist for many years, if that counts!), so I’m largely going off ~ vibes ~ but from seeing the final houses, along with the winning room tally, I’d be surprised if Mat and Robby don’t win.

If they don’t, they might be getting a rogue offer from me! (Jks, I’m actually so poor)
