Nick Nurse Reveals Plans For Joel Embiid For Rest Of Season
The Philadelphia 76ers’ season has quickly devolved into a big mess, and it will not be easy for them to clean things up moving forward.
The biggest reason they were in 11th place in the Eastern Conference was injuries, especially the continued problems of Joel Embiid.
He has played in just 18 of a possible 55 games, and there has been talk that he will need knee surgery at some point to address the health-related issues he continues to have.
Some have even suggested that he could be shut down for the rest of the season, and Sixers head coach Nick Nurse recently revealed some plans regarding back-to-back games.
“It’s all game-to-game. I think that if he’s feeling good, I think anything’s possible. But we’re still going game-to-game on it right now,” Nurse said, via Sam DiGiovanni of ClutchPoints.
Nick Nurse on if Joel Embiid will play back-to-backs with the Sixers deep in the standings:

Embiid has put up 24.9 points and 8.5 rebounds per game this season, but he’s shooting 45.4 percent from the field, and overall, his numbers are well beneath where they’ve been in past seasons.
Last season, he put up a career-high 34.7 points per game and was possibly on his way to winning his third straight scoring title before a meniscus injury forced him to sit out for two months.
The 76ers were expected to be championship contenders after they brought in veteran forward Paul George as a free agent this offseason, but now, their immediate and medium-term future is looking very murky.
They have a young and reliable star in Tyrese Maxey and a promising rookie in Jared McCain, but they will have some difficult decisions to make elsewhere throughout their roster, including possibly with Embiid.
