It got heated between Arber Xhekaj of the Montreal Canadiens and the towering Buffalo Sabres forward Jordan Greenway. In fact, the Canadiens’ rugged defenseman has been trying to drop the gloves with the Sabres forward since the start of the game, but Greenway wants nothing to do with it.

Xhekaj is determined to send a message on behalf of his rookie goaltender Jakub Dobes (due to what happened on Saturday), but he simply can’t convince Greenway to accept his invitation.

Arber Xhekaj intimidates Jordan Greenway

One thing is certain: you can’t say his invitation wasn’t clear.

According to what Marc Denis reported on RDS in the last few minutes, the Sheriff explicitly invited him to fight.

“Marc Denis on RDS says that Arber Xhekaj just told Jordan Greenway he wants to fight later”

So it wasn’t just a simple impression we had while watching the game on TV.

The Sheriff genuinely intended to drop the gloves with the player who went after Jakub Dobes in the last game, but the 6-foot-6 Sabres forward seems to want absolutely nothing to do with it.

He has been avoiding Xhekaj all evening.

Let’s just say Greenway looks a lot less aggressive in front of Xhekaj than he did in front of Dobes on Saturday.

Greenway, 28 years old, is a 6-foot-6 forward with 8 points in 24 games this season, along with 19 penalty minutes.
