Whether he was presenting on Australian Idol, whispering on The Bacheloror screaming ‘Take it off!’ on The Masked Singer, Osher Günsberg has been known to have impeccable style throughout his TV career. His latest gig is no different, with the 51-year-old donning his best sparkly suit jackets and brightly-coloured costumes as a contestant on Dancing With The Stars.

Fans have already been given a glimpse of his dance floor fashion in promos for the reality show, with Osher posing alongside his fellow competitors in a purple and blue patterned blazer. What makes his outfit particularly special, however, is that he previously wore the blazer on TV in 2021 on The Masked Singer.

“The jacket I’m wearing in the promos is my own jacket,” he tells Yahoo Lifestyle. “Channel 10 was going to get rid of all my old suits, like they were just sitting in a suitcase downstairs in a cupboard somewhere. So I bought them off Channel 10, all those Masked suits. I tried to get as many as I could.”

Osher says Channel 7 gave him a similar jacket to wear for the Dancing With The Stars cast photo and promo video, but he suggested using his own.

“I was like, ‘I’ve got a better one, let me try this’. And they went, ‘Oh, it’s perfect!’. So I got to wear my own jacket,” he remarks.

The TV host reveals that he had also recently purchased some of his tailored suits from The Bachelor and had even been wearing them while promoting his upcoming appearance on Dancing With The Stars.

“What they do with these big cleanouts is they sell it all, and they give the money to charity. So when I found out they were selling them, I was like, ‘Can I just come in and grab that stuff?’ and they said, ‘Yeah sure’,” he recalls. “I paid a lot for it.”

As for whether he’s kept anything from his experience on Dancing With The Stars, Osher says he wore his own pair of shoes during his performances.

“I have a bespoke pair of shoes that have been created, designed and assembled by Tim Chappel, who has won a BAFTA and a Tony and an Oscar [for costume design],” he details. “They’re an amazing pair of shoes, and I love to wear them because they’re really comfy and they look incredible.

“Let me tell you, if you want a comfy pair of sneakers, get yourself a pair of dancing shoes. They are the best.”

In addition to competing on Dancing With The Stars, Osher is set to release his upcoming book, So What? Now What?, on August 5, which he describes as a collection of tools to “stop being stuck and start living”.

“I’m really, really proud of it. It’s exactly the kind of stuff that I used to help me get through the stuff that I went through, all the pain stuff that I was dealing with around all of my hip replacements and things like that,” he details.

“It’s the stuff that I used when I was going through this experience [Dancing With The Stars] and not being as good as I want to be at this dancing thing, but still being like, ‘Okay, you’re not as perfect as you want to be, what are you going to do instead? How can you move forward in accordance with your values and still enjoy it?’. It’s the stuff that I learned how to do, and the sort of thing that has helped keep me healthy – along with some fantastic meds and very smart doctors.”
