Channel Seven star Kylie Gillies has announced a devastating double family tragedy as the mother-of-two opened up about her heartbreaking loss on Instagram.

The co-host of the Seven Network’s The Morning Show, 58, took to Instagram on Tuesday to say she was mourning the death of pugs Pepe and Tilly through a carousel of memorable moments with the canines.

“Our beloved Frenchie bulldog babies have gone, and we are heartbroken,” Gillies wrote in the caption.

“We shared so many of their adventures with you all-their antics, Pepe’s ‘talking’, the cuddles, the cuteness. And now they are all memories.”

Gillies said Tilly was 14 years old when she died in the journalist’s arms after her “body gave way as we thought it might” following health issues.

“We believe she waited for us to return from a trip away before she closed her eyes for the last time.”

Just two months later, the TV personality said 13-year-old Pepe tragically passed away, too, due to complications with his own health.

“The ever-smiling chatterbox, the alpha in the house. Our bruiser boy. And the biggest sook,” Gillies said of the adorable black and grey pup.

She reflected on Pepe growing up with Gus and Archie, the two boys Gillies shares with her husband, journalist Tony Gillies, since he was 10 weeks old.

“Pepe’s symptoms came on quickly. Way too fast. There were no humane options. He passed with all four of us by his side,” she said.

“Our boy and girl died exactly 8 weeks apart. Too close. But they’re sleeping side by side. As they always did. Now eternal.”

“The house is quieter. We still instinctively listen for them when we get home, or turn our head at a bark in the distance.

“And we miss telling off the boys for ‘accidentally dropping’ a piece of meat under the dinner table. There’s more room on the couch at night.

“But it’s space we didn’t want.

“We are thankful for their love and wet kisses. We’ll love them forever.”

In the carousel, Pepe and Tilly could be seen playfully enjoying a run with the journalist’s sons at the beach, posing for festive family snaps at Christmas, cuddling on the family couch and sleeping side by side.

Gillies’s famous friends and fellow TV journalists, including Aussie singer Ricki-Lee Coulter, flooded the comments with their condolences.

“I’m so sorry. Sending you so much love,” Ricki-Lee wrote.

Dr Chris Brown said the Seven reporter gave the pugs a joyous life as he offered his heartfelt sympathy to her.

“What a life you gave them,” the celebrity vet said.

“Those bright happy faces in these pics are all testament to the love your family gave them every day until the last. They felt it. I hope you’re ok.”

Gillies’s Morning Show co-host Larry Emdur added: “Devastating news. I know how huge a part of your lives those beautiful babies were.”

Meghan Markle’s makeup artist friend Daniel Martin said he sent the TV personality and her family his “love and my condolences, Kylie.”

Kylie has helmed Channel Seven’s breakfast program alongside Emdur for 18 years and has been a staple at the network for three decades.

The Walkley Award-winning journalist married journalist Tony Gillies in 1989 before welcoming Gus, 22, 14 years later, followed by Archie, 19.
