In a matter of minutes, Kate had made it through tough battles of soccer stars, Aussie wildlife and world foods on The Floor Australia.
But it was one of the world’s most recognisable boxers that left her scratching her head.
Kate, a 36-year-old citizenship consultant, had spent most of the episode up at the podium, successfully winning duel after duel in categories a far cry from her original choice of ‘pasta’.
Her fight continued as just moments after taking over her last opponent’s category of ‘gold medallists’, she was back for yet another round.
“Kate the great going for number eight,” host Rodger Corser pointed out.
With 39 seconds left on the clock, Kate was in a sudden death duel against firefighter Jono, who was feeling confident as a longtime sport’s lover and Olympics fan.
Feeling the pressure, when the face of one of the world’s most famous athletes flashed on screen, she went blank.
After a long pause, Kate finally said “pass”.
She soon recovered by successfully picking the next medalist as Dylan Alcott, but was it enough to secure her yet another win?
