Aspiring reality stars hoping to appear on the next season of Married At First Sight have been warned: there are strict rules you must follow to stand a chance at being cast.
Holly Bryar, the woman behind The Reality Directory and founder of Bryar Casting, has lifted the lid on the dos and don’ts of auditioning for one of Australia’s biggest TV shows.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia, Holly – who has helped cast some of the nation’s most high-profile formats – revealed her top six commandments for potential contestants.
And if you think being late or ignoring a ‘No Caller ID’ call is no big deal? Think again.
Answer your phone – no matter what
‘If you get a call from a producer after submitting your application, answer it,’ Holly warned.

‘We often call from a No Caller ID number, and if you ask us to call you back, you’re probably going to the bottom of the list,’ she added.
Don’t get annoyed when we ask you to move locations during your audition
While it might feel annoying to be told to move during a virtual audition, Holly said it’s for your own good.
‘We’re not trying to be difficult. We just want you to look good – especially if your audition ends up on national television,’ she explained.
‘Dating shows are notorious for needing good visuals. We don’t want to waste time fixing your lighting or telling you to clean up your messy bedroom when we could be getting to know you.’
Show up – and be on time
Producers are swamped with potential matches, and cancelling at the last minute is a quick way to get crossed off the list.
‘It doesn’t matter if it’s our first audition of the day or our tenth – we’ve set aside time for you. Please respect that,’ she said.

‘Life happens, we get it. But by the time you hope to “reschedule”, the show may already be cast,’ she continued.
Don’t bombard producers with questions
While it’s tempting to ask how many days off work you’ll need or how long filming lasts, Holly said now’s not the time.
‘We understand you have a Google Drive full of selfies and want to know everything,’ she said with a laugh.
‘But right now, we’re just trying to figure out if you’re a good fit. If you progress, we’ll keep you updated.’
Be smart about your audition location
Holly urged candidates to think twice before dialling in from the car, bathroom, or a noisy café.
‘Don’t join from your morning walk or while your housemate is yelling on a Teams call,’ she said.

‘Each stage of casting has its own requirements, and we need you to follow them properly. And no, we can’t just “Facetime it”.’
Keep your mouth shut – even around Mum
The most important rule of all? Don’t spill the beans.
‘Don’t post about your audition on Instagram, don’t tell your mum, and don’t even hint that you’ve been contacted,’ Holly warned.
‘Confidentiality is everything. If you make it on the show, we’ll let you know when you can talk about it. Until then – zip it!’
