Block couple Han and Can allege their builder sent them “gross” texts – so the man in question shows the cameras exactly what he said.

The Block contestants Han and Can were shocked in Monday’s episode to see a builder they had previously fired return to the show, claiming he sent them “gross” texts after he was let go.

Han and Can sent their builder Ben packing in scenes that aired earlier this month. His surprise dismissal came shortly after he’d helped lead them to victory, scoring a perfect 10 and a win for their rumpus room reveal.

As the girls celebrated their win, they also told Ben his services were no longer needed, explaining that he was too expensive for them and they’d only retain their other builder Shannon and his team moving forward.

On his way out, Ben lamented to foreman Dan that he “wished he was [paired] with a different house.”

A few weeks later and Ben was back, enlisted to work for Nine in Six, The Block’s own team of builders, on another team’s house.

But Han and Can said they were surprised he would dare show his face on The Block again after the “gross” text he’d sent them.

“I’m a bit shocked, after the way he spoke to me. The texts that we received, after sending some lovely texts, were quite gross actually,” Han said.

She said it was “brave” of him to come back, “after talking to someone like that” – but she also declined to share any of the texts with the show’s crew.

So producers put the allegation to Ben, who laughed and said it was “news” to him that he’d been abusive.

“About a week ago, I got a longwinded text from Hannah apologising and saying they were sorry for how things had gone down and would love me to come back,” he explained.

“I was very amicable in the way that I replied.”

Viewers then got to see the text exchange for themselves: Hannah had sent a message to Ben declaring, among other things, “I genuinely love you and appreciate you and everything you have done so much.”

She spoke fondly of their time together on the show and suggested visiting him at his home to return some equipment he had left on site: “If you’re keen I would love to see you out at your place or something and give you your stuff. Love always Han xx.”

Ben was certainly less loved-up in his response, as he voiced his disappointment at being axed from the build midway through. His text in full, as it was shown on screen:

“Hey Han, thanks for reaching out!! hope everything’s going well on your end. I have to say, I’m really disappointed by how things unfolded. I was left in the dark with no communication, and neither you nor Candice responded to me.

Especially frustrating with Easter weekend approaching. It felt like a major lapse in management, as I spent the holiday unsure of what my workload would be moving forward.

Ben says he’s got nothing to apologise for.
Ben says he’s got nothing to apologise for.
As you know, I’m the sole provider for my family, so being left to figure out that I was no longer needed at House 2 was incredibly frustrating, especially given the time and effort I dedicated to helping make your vision a reality. The uncertainty of having to structure my work plans has been challenging, and I’m still trying to sort it out.

I won’t be returning to House 2 for several reasons, Shannon being high on the list. He’s easily in the top 10 [blurred expletive] I have ever met, but I’m sure hell be able to handle whatever work you need out there, and heaps easier and better than I ever could (just ask him).

As for my belongings, I plan to come out in the next few weeks to work with some of the other contestants, and I’ll grab everything then. It’s a shame things didn’t go the way I’d hoped for th Block experience. Thanks again for reaching out, and take care.”

As Ben saw it, the only person who’d have any reason by offended by that text is fellow builder Shannon, who he clashed with during his time working on Han and Can’s house.
