It went completely under the radar, but Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis made a statement involving Ivan Demidov. And it’s a very interesting one.

Since his arrival with the Canadiens, many experts have been calling for Demidov to be placed immediately on the team’s top power play unit.

It’s a similar debate to the one we had with Lane Hutson earlier this season..

Well, on that topic-good news!

Martin St-Louis leaves the door wide open to the idea of placing Ivan Demidov on the first power play unit

That didn’t take long!

Coach Marty St. Louis today on Habs PP1:

“I have bunch of cards I can use. Obviously we got Ivan Demidov now, that’s a new card..”

I love reading that!

Clearly, Ivan Demidov is in Martin St-Louis’ plans for the top power play unit, and a change seems imminent, especially considering Laine’s recent struggles.

It’s definitely a situation to keep an eye on starting today.

Another analyst suggests replacing Juraj Slafkovsky with Ivan Demidov

Still on the topic of Demidov and the top power play unit, the buzz isn’t just happening in Montreal.

“Hockey analyst Jack Han suggests that Ivan Demidov should replace Juraj Slafkovsky on Habs PP1 in the playoffs to utilize his playmaking skills and shooting threat.”

And what about you, do you think Ivan Demidov is ready to be placed immediately on the Canadiens’ top power play unit?
