We experienced an incredible moment during the first period of Ivan Demidov’s very first game in the National Hockey League.

Demidov didn’t even need three shifts to register his first career point (an assist).

What an amazing moment, and what an incredible crowd reaction!

We’ve never seen a crowd react like that for the announcement of an assist, made by in-house announcer Michel Lacroix.

Demidov, for his part, looked truly moved by the moment.

But that’s not all.

The NHL had to completely cancel a commercial break because of the goal scored by Alex Newhook, assisted by young Ivan Demidov

As Pierre Houde mentioned on RDS, there was such a frenzy following Demidov’s first career point that the NHL outright decided not to go to a commercial break after the 14-minute mark of the period.

That’s unheard of-and it speaks volumes about the buzz surrounding this moment.
