Mother of Missing Children Jack and Lily Sullivan Changes Facebook Relationship Status, Raising Public Questions
Pictou County, Nova Scotia – In a surprising development in the ongoing case of missing siblings Jack (4) and Lily Sullivan (6), their mother, Malayaia Brooks-Murray, has changed her relationship status on Facebook to “single,” prompting concern and speculation from the public.

The change came after Brooks-Murray temporarily deactivated her Facebook account and then reactivated it with the updated status. The move has sparked widespread criticism and confusion online, as many question the appropriateness and timing of the update while two of her young children remain missing.

Brooks-Murray had been living with Daniel Martell, who describes himself as the children’s stepfather. The couple also shares a third child, a toddler believed to be around 18 months old. Reports suggest that this child is now under the care of Child Protective Services (CPS).

Some observers are now questioning whether the breakup might be related to the disappearance of the children. However, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) have not commented on any potential links between the relationship status change and the investigation. RCMP confirmed that they have interviewed 35 individuals connected to the case, including close family members and members of the local community.

Authorities continue to treat this as a missing persons case. So far, over 180 tips have been submitted to police. Search and rescue efforts—which included helicopters, drones, K9 units, and hundreds of volunteers—have covered more than 5.5 square kilometers of dense forests, swamps, and rugged terrain surrounding the family’s home in Lansdowne Station. No trace of Jack or Lily has yet been found.

The Facebook activity has added a layer of public scrutiny to an already complex and emotionally charged investigation. Critics have questioned why Brooks-Murray has made social media updates but has not appeared in recent media interviews. Others argue that the focus must remain on locating the missing children rather than on speculation.

Police continue to urge the public to refrain from spreading misinformation and to only rely on verified sources for updates on the case.
