Nine had imposed social media restrictions and controlled all content of MAFS cast members’ accounts until May 10, well after the Australian finale, to coincide with the show’s broadcast in the UK.
On Monday, Yahoo Lifestyle revealed that an anonymous participant had leaked ‘guidelines’ that Nine had passed onto the cast ahead of the deadline.
‘Since all content and captions published to your account during the season were selected and written by you, we advise you to avoid announcing your ‘return’ to social or mentioning the publishing process in order to maintain the authenticity between you and your followers,’ the document said.
According to the publication, cast members faced commercial restrictions regarding their Instagram accounts, including brand deals.
The MAFS cast were also told not to share stories online about the filming process.
‘You can use your social media accounts for personal content publishing, noting this personal content needs to adhere to your exclusivity timings and provisions (non-commercial purposes only),’ the guidelines said.
Despite all the restrictions, several cast members, including Jacqui Burfoot, Clint Rice, Dave Thomas Hand and Veronica Cloherty, have gone ‘rogue’ on social media since the show went to air.
Several of the show’s stars, including Tony Mojanovski and Morena Farina, have used their business accounts to avoid their obligations to Nine.

Insiders reveal that the network is fuming about the ‘rogue’ activity.
Daily Mail Australia revealed in April that groom Dave and Veronica have successfully reset their Instagram passwords are now refusing to hand the accounts back to the show’s publicity team.
The pair are understood to be planning to cash in on their newfound stardom by launching influencer careers immediately – but this sneaky move is a direct violation of their contracts with Nine and production company Endemol Shine Australia.
It comes after many of the stars of this season’s Married at First Sight have seen their popularity on social media soar.
Figures released by social media ranker Fabulate for March reveal that some cast members including Dave Hand, Rhi Disljenkovic and Awhina Rutene have captured an online following of over 100K.
Jamie Marinos, 28, who leads her MAFS co-stars in online popularity after racking up 245.6K followers on TikTok.
Jamie’s TV husband Dave has also attracted attention online, scoring 197K followers on Instagram.
Also popular with social media users is controversial groom Eliot Donovan, who captured 276.9K followers on TikTok.
