The Block’s Robby and Mat have penned an emotional tribute after their builder Dave tragically lost his wife Carly to leukaemia.

“Our hearts go out to our builder Dave and his son Gene, who tragically lost their beautiful wife and mum, Carly, to leukaemia this week,” they wrote.

“We’ll never forget the moment Dave got the call during Alfresco Week – our hearts sank for him. From that day on, Dave didn’t return to The Block, choosing to spend every precious moment by Carly’s side.

“Carly was just 45 years old. She leaves behind her loving husband Dave and their 7-year old son, Gene.”

Dave’s family set up a GoFundMe to provide financial support while Dave is off work caring for their son Gene.

“The funds will help cover essentials like the mortgage and also ensure Gene can keep doing the things he loves – playing basketball and footy with his mates,” Robby and Mat wrote.

“We love you, mate. Rest in peace, Carly.”

According to Dave and Carly’s GoFundMe, Carly was diagnosed in May 2025.

Carly went to the GP feeling exhausted and with unexplained bruising. Just hours later, she was admitted to hospital and soon diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

The cancer spread from her bones into her bloodstream and within five days of diagnosis, Carly commenced the first of many high dose chemotherapy treatments.
