As the NHL offseason heats up, the rumor mill is swirling with speculation about the future of some of hockey’s most intriguing young stars. The New York Rangers, fresh off a disappointing season that saw them miss the playoffs despite last year’s Presidents’ Trophy triumph, are clearly looking to shake things up.

With the recent trade of veteran forward Chris Kreider to Anaheim, it’s evident that general manager Chris Drury is not afraid to make bold moves in hopes of reinvigorating his roster. Amid whispers of further changes, one name has surfaced repeatedly: Alexis Lafrenière. The former first overall pick has found himself at the center of trade rumors, with the Montreal Canadiens emerging as a possible destination. RDS recently added fuel to the fire by proposing a blockbuster deal on social media, sparking intense debate among fans and analysts alike. As both the Canadiens and Rangers look to reshape their futures, all eyes are on what promises to be a dramatic and unpredictable summer in the NHL.

The Rangers made their intentions clear by trading forward Chris Kreider to the Anaheim Ducks at the beginning of June.

While they’re not necessarily heading into a full rebuild, general manager Chris Drury is looking to send a jolt through the organization.

Let’s not forget, the Rangers missed the 2025 playoffs after winning the Presidents’ Trophy the previous season.

More players could be leaving New York soon, and Alexis Lafrenière’s name keeps coming up in various rumors.

Here’s one involving the Montreal Canadiens.

Trade Proposal Between the Montreal Canadiens and New York Rangers Involving Alexis Lafrenière by RDS

On Instagram, RDS posted a trade proposal suggesting what Kent Hughes might need to offer to land the first overall pick from the 2020 NHL Draft.

“Who says yes, who says no?

Let’s just say the price suggested by the TV station might be a bit steep, considering Lafrenière’s production during the 2024-2025 season.

After a strong start-16 points in his first 19 games-Lafrenière finished the season with 45 points, including 17 goals in 82 games.

This came after an excellent campaign the year before, where he scored 28 goals and tallied 57 points.

However, according to some experts, it would be surprising if Chris Drury traded his young forward, especially since other Rangers players are reportedly more available.

One such name is Mika Zibanejad, who could potentially address the Canadiens’ need for a second-line center.

It’s shaping up to be a hot summer in the NHL for both Montreal and New York.
