Farmer Wants A Wife fans were left stunned watching Tuesday night’s episode when it was revealed that Farmer Thomas had been secretly texting his former contestant Claire. The couple had one of the strongest connections this season before she decided to abruptly quit the show in week two, leaving him heartbroken.

It was revealed the following week that Thomas had met up with Claire for a one-off dinner to seek closure; however, his remaining contestants, Clarette and Rachael, were outraged upon discovering she had continued texting him. The South Australian farmer then decided to block her number in an effort to patch things up with the others, and also asserted that she was “dead to [him]” and nothing was going on between them.

Following the episode, a source close to Claire tells Yahoo Lifestyle that she was “furious” seeing how Thomas handled the situation and spoke about her to the other women.

“Claire thinks it’s pretty disrespectful for him to use the words ‘she is dead to me’ when she had done nothing wrong and he had been caught out. She was shocked by what he said,” the insider claims.

“She had no idea that he had blocked her number until seeing it on TV last night. She was checking in on him as a friend, so him not replying spoke volumes.”

The source also asserts that despite what Clarette insinuated on camera, Claire’s message to Thomas wasn’t flirty at all.

“Claire was careful in how she worded the text as she didn’t want Thomas or the other ladies getting the wrong idea,” they continue. “There was no bad blood, so Claire didn’t think messaging him was a bad thing. She had full intentions of continuing a friendship with Thomas after the show.”

Tuesday night’s episode ended with Clarette calling Thomas a “f**king prick” upon seeing how many messages he and Claire had exchanged since she quit the show, and he got in his car and left the farm.

Claire reveals she was asked to return

This comes after Claire revealed to Yahoo Lifestyle that producers asked her to return to the show following her shock exit, but she refused.

“I’d had a full Britney [Spears] moment and I’d already cut my hair into a bob, so I was like, ‘No, can’t come back’,” she shared. “Also, I was thinking like, if I did come back, the backlash would’ve probably been like, ‘Who does she think she is? She can’t get a second chance’.

“If it hadn’t been for the bob, I probably would have gone back. Imagine that! Could you imagine the look on Clarette’s face when I walked back in?”

She also said she knows who Farmer Thomas chooses, but refused to answer when asked how she feels about his ‘winner’. As for whether she’s been messaging Thomas recently, Claire joked: “No, I think he’s been banned from texting.”
