Channel 10 star Julia Morris has demanded Aussie airlines introduce a “women only” section after an incident with a “creep” on a flight.
Julia Morris has called on major Australian airlines to introduce women-only sections in a bid to protect female travellers from “creeps on flights”.
The 57-year-old Australian comedian took to Instagram earlier this month to urge Qantas, Virgin and Jetstar to consider the idea.
It comes as she said men have asked women to “crawl over them” to leave their seats on planes in what she dubbed an invasion of privacy.
“Calling all airlines… @qantas @virginaustralia @jetstaraustralia PLEASE consider a women-only section on your planes,” Morris wrote.
“We don’t feel safe with men telling us to crawl over them on flights, while they ignore women’s personal space.
“And I won’t even mention the state of the toilets.”
The I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here host said “not all men” were to blame, but questioned why “so many” males still were.
“Give us the back section,” she said.

“Or at least a few rows of female-only seats.
“Stand up to creeps on flights. Women are OVER IT.”
Morris’s fans flooded the comments with their approval of her suggestion, with one person arguing other male habits also make women feel uneasy.
“What a brilliant idea having girls only seats and perhaps toilets,” one person wrote.
“As a petite young woman, I’ve been stuck with some pretty overbearing men before, and I remember being so deeply uncomfortable,” another person said.

“And how about the elbows on the arm rests and manspreading legs – that’s pretty annoying,” a third person said.
Another woman said she experienced an incident in which two men asked her to climb over them on a recent long-haul flight.
“I had the window seat, and two men stared at me and told me to climb over them. I flat out refused and asked them to stand in the aisle,” she said.
“The whole nine hours, they just stared at me.
“I did not feel comfortable at all.”

A traveller shared their similar experience on a Virgin flight in June.
She said she said she felt sick and had to get up from her window seat, but the male next to her would not to get up to let her exit freely.
“The guy on the aisle refused to get out of his seat…that moment still haunts me,” the traveller said.
“I always try to Jag an isle seat for reason,” one more person said.
“Try being a breastfeeding mother in a pre booked priority seat with a man sitting next to you the whole flight hogging the arm rest and legs crossed so wildly it takes up half your leg space. So uncomfortable,” another added.
Airlines in Australia currently do not offer gender-specific seating.
Similar initiatives have been introduced overseas, including by India’s largest airline, IndiGo, in August 2024, which allows female passengers to choose a seat next to another woman during online check-in.
In 2017, Air India began offering a “gender-sensitive” seating area on its domestic flights, allowing women to sit together.
