We’re only a few episodes into this year’s season of Farmer Wants A Wife, but sparks are already flying between the four farmers and their contestants. Farmer Thomas was immediately smitten upon meeting Claire and invited her back to his farm on the first 24-hour date.
The couple shared their first kiss on the back of a vintage truck once owned by his great-great-grandfather, with the South Australian farmer speculating that he may have had a date with his “future wife”. However, it wasn’t long before he was locking lips with another contestant, Clarette, shortly after she arrived on the farm in Monday night’s episode.
While these are undoubtedly the first of many kisses shared this season, Thomas told Yahoo Lifestyle ahead of the season premiere that he regrets how he handled himself during filming.
“I probably thought about myself a bit, and not the end outcome if I did meet someone through the show and how that would affect them. I guess if I could do things differently, I might play it a little bit differently,” he shared.
“I just didn’t want to hurt anyone, and I guess how the girls are going to see it, they might not know if some things have happened or not. And I guess how that affects them, that’s what I’m worried about. I can deal with my feelings, it’s just how they can deal with it.”

‘I don’t feel great about that’
Farmer Corey also admitted he felt “nervous” about his family and friends watching the show, let alone seeing him kiss multiple women on TV.
“I don’t feel great about that. I’m not a person who plays the field or anything like that, I’m someone who’s really genuine when it comes to finding love,” he said.
“I suppose kissing a few girls on the show, I’m very nervous, and I don’t feel good about it, but it’s all part of the journey of finding love, and it’s something that I gotta deal with.”
Thomas and Corey reveal their red flags
Speaking about what he’s looking for in a partner, Thomas revealed that his biggest ‘red flag’ was someone who signed up for the experience without genuine intentions.
“Probably my biggest thing coming onto the show was how many ladies were going to be genuine or just trying to promote themself,” he remarks. “I guess I was pretty lucky, all the girls that I got to choose from, they were definitely there to find love.
“I’m the older one on the farms, so I guess I was lucky to get a few more mature ones who were there to find love and not to promote themselves.”
Meanwhile, Corey shared that he is determined to find someone who is “serious about picking up their life and moving to the farm”.
“It’s a huge sacrifice. Moving away from friends, family, and support network, it’s a lot. It’s pretty full on,” he said. “So I suppose that comes with the category of trying to figure out if the girls really are genuine about finding love when coming on the show, and that’s a red flag if they don’t want to and they’re not prepared to make the move or can’t see themselves on the farm.”
