MasterChef fans have made a major prediction for Laura Sharrad’s future on the show, based on one of their biggest frustrations. It seems viewers think Laura is getting a lot more airtime than any of the other contestants this year, and they don’t love that fact.

One viewer took to Reddit to air their frustrations, writing, “Why is there so much focus on Laura? Just a curious question, I’ve only been watching [MasterChef Australia] from when Diana won, and I don’t really have much context of the previous seasons, but every episode, she has a considerably longer screen time than almost anyone else.

“I understand she’s a good chef and one of the oldies, she grew up on the show etc etc but skipping entire dishes made by others just to talk about her dish for so long is kind of frustrating. Also none of the others are shown that much, not even Andre or Callum or Sarah who are all I’m assuming just as famous during their seasons. Heck I knew who Andre was and I didn’t even watch the earlier seasons.”

Other viewers weighed in, with one person sharing a prediction on where Laura’s career may go, “When the season started, I did expect extra focus on the three returnees (Laura, Callum and Sarah). Except you sometimes forget the other two exist unless you see them on screen.

“At this point, I won’t be surprised if she comes as a judge in future seasons,” they added. “I really want to see more Samira, Depinder, Andre and Ben.”

Others agreed that they could see Laura coming back to the show eventually as a judge, with many upvoting the post, and one person adding, “Agree!”

“Even for the episodes she is not cooking in!” another said. “Like the last pressure test where Rue was eliminated, they showed her at least 6-7 times with the same pose – she had both of her hands on her head with an ouch expression on her face!

“Some days, there are interesting dishes like Depinder’s or Alana’s and I really wish we could see at least a few steps of it,” they continued. “I hope the production reads our thoughts and gets it corrected. I would love to see everyone even if it is for half a minute. Like the relay showed everyone and it was a great episode.”

“[I know right]!” a third said. “Her dishes seem repetitive too! In the previous Back to Win season she received a lot of backlash for making the same type of pasta recipes. I mean I don’t have a problem with that but she should definitely level up a bit. I think even contestants like Alana, Jamie also have made pretty good dishes, but still very little screen time. It’s either the best or worst who get it.”

“Yeah the pasta is hardly surprising anymore, but even then I don’t really mind, just show me the other dishes as well!” the original poster replied.

Another suggested it might be because producers are “desperate for her to finally win”.

“It’s pretty clear they’re setting her up as the winner,” another agreed. “Third time lucky and all that.”

“Isn’t it because she was a darling of Jock Zonfrillo?” one person suggested. “Didn’t she even work in his restaurant, hence having a lot of experience working with native Australian ingredients and all of that? There was clear favouritism shown at the start in her season.”

Others defended Laura, with one fan saying, “I think she’s charismatic, a great narrator and very versatile chef. I don’t think she only cooks pasta like people often complain here, even if that’s her specialty. She has always gotten a lot of hate.

“Unfortunately, a young woman who is confident, happy, and witty equals smug for a lot of people.”
