As speculation swirls and new names emerge in trade rumors, fans are eagerly watching every development, hoping for a move that could reshape the team’s fortunes. The search has already linked Montreal to several intriguing candidates, each bringing their own strengths and potential to the table. Without much fanfare, the departure of Christian Dvorak leaves a fairly significant hole to fill for the Montreal Canadiens.

The good news is that Kent Hughes is fully aware of it.

As just reported by the excellent Marco D’Amico on BPM Sports, the Canadiens are working aggressively and seriously to acquire a quality left-handed center.

This could also explain the following:

Clearly, Kent Hughes doesn’t see Joe Veleno as capable of playing in the top three lines – and that’s not wrong.

The Montreal Canadiens have just been linked to New York Islanders center Jean-Gabriel Pageau, per David Pagnotta

Three names have just been connected to the Habs, including Pageau, though there’s a handedness issue in his case.

Pagnotta is indeed linking the solid Islanders center to the Canadiens, but he also mentioned two other names that keep coming up more and more.

We’re talking about Mason McTavish and Marco Rossi here – two solid left-handed centers as well.

McTavish, 22 years old, recorded 52 points in 76 games this season and is currently a restricted free agent.

Pageau, 32 years old, tallied 42 points in 79 games this season and is under contract at $5 million per year until 2026.

Rossi, 23 years old, notched 60 points in 82 games this season and is also a restricted free agent.

These are three names to keep in mind – but in any case, know that Kent Hughes is working very hard and very seriously to add a center to the roster.
