We have a roster move to announce involving the Montreal Canadiens, their first ahead of the playoffs.

Joshua Roy’s run with the Canadiens is apparently over for this season, as he has just been sent down to the Laval Rocket.

It’s really unfortunate for him, especially after the emotional night yesterday.

Joshua Roy sent back to the Laval Rocket

He’ll still get to experience a nice playoff run with the Canadiens’ farm team, but it must be hard on him mentally to be reassigned immediately after his team qualified for the playoffs in nearly historic fashion.

I can’t help but feel for Roy’s disappointment.

Last night, he has an incredible evening and believes he’s headed to the playoffs with the Montreal Canadiens, but the very next morning, he’s sent back down to the minors.

Here’s the confirmation:

He’s clearly no longer part of the Canadiens’ plans for this season, which explains the move, considering he’s been a healthy scratch for several games now.

Joshua Roy, 21 years old, 6 feet tall and 192 pounds, recorded two points in 12 games this season with the Canadiens.

He also added 35 points in 46 games with the Laval Rocket (AHL).

Do you think this was the right decision? Or do you believe Joshua Roy could’ve helped the Canadiens in the playoffs?

It must be said that with the arrivals and returns of Emil Heineman, Oliver Kapanen, and Ivan Demidov up front, there weren’t many spots left for Joshua Roy, who really seems to have been surpassed in the pecking order.

More details to come.
