EXCLUSIVE: In 2025, Scott Cam is hosting his 19th season of The Block.
In an exclusive and unseen video, which you can watch above, Scotty admitted his younger self would likely have a simple one-word response if told about his long standing success.
“I think my younger self would be absolutely astonished that I’d been at Channel Nine for 27 years, with a Gold Logie on my shelf,” the host laughed.
“I think my younger self would say ‘bulls–t’.”
In the video, Scotty reflected on his “decades on the tools and decades on the telly”.
His move from carpenter to host is the stuff of TV legend: he was “discovered” while enjoying a beer at the pub in 1999 and eventually talked into doing a screen test for Nine’s reality series, Backyard Blitz.
He’s been on TV ever since, having worked on shows including Renovation Rescue and Reno Rumble.
Scotty joined The Block in 2010 and won the Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality at the 2014 Logie Awards.
But despite all that TV experience under his (tool) belt, you can rest assured Scotty still takes his job as a chippy very seriously.
Even now, the host said on a building site he is “head down, bum up, going flat stick!”
