During a press conference earlier today, Montreal Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis sent a subtle message to Arber Xhekaj.

He didn’t beat around the bush.

If Xhekaj wants to get back into the lineup and stay there, he’ll need to force the coaches’ hand.

It’s as simple as that, according to Martin St-Louis.

Martin St-Louis sends a message to Arber Xhekaj if he wants back in the lineup

Here’s an excerpt from the TVA Sports article on the topic:

“Arber Xhekaj has to be patient and act like a professional,” reminded head coach Martin St-Louis on Thursday.

“He has to stay in control of his business, it’s not easy for a player to be out of the lineup,” added St-Louis following the Canadiens’ practice.

St-Louis also had some advice for the Sheriff:

“He’s no longer a rookie, he has to handle this like a pro, stay ready and in a good mental state. Things change fast,” he explained.

All the details are in the TVA Sports article.

One thing’s for sure, Xhekaj will be watching tonight’s highly anticipated game from the stands.. It’s obvious this must be extremely tough for him.

Arber Xhekaj also sent his own message to Canadiens management

In fact, he made an interesting move yesterday morning to send a clear message to his bosses and show what he’s made of.

One thing is certain, the tough young defenseman isn’t going to give up that easily, and as soon as Jayden Struble opens the door, Xhekaj absolutely has to seize the opportunity and run with it.

That’s essentially what Martin St-Louis seems to be saying above.
