We have news from the Montreal Canadiens on this NHL trade deadline day. The Habs organization has already announced that there will be a second press conference within a few hours, this one involving general manager Kent Hughes.

“Happy NHL Trade Deadline Day!

The Canadiens will practice in Calgary this afternoon, and general manager Kent Hughes will speak to the media from Brossard shortly after the 3:00 PM ET deadline.”

So, it’s a date!

Kent Hughes will hold a press conference starting at 3:00 PM live from Brossard

We can’t wait to see the topics the general manager will discuss.

Will Joel Armia and/or David Savard be traded?

Will Kent Hughes surprise us by immediately bringing in reinforcements at center, with a name like Casey Mittelstadt, Dylan Cozens, or Trevor Zegras?

We will have all our answers in the coming hours, but as Martin St-Louis’ squad is in the thick of the playoff race in the East, it would be truly amazing if Hughes and Jeff Gorton managed to bring in reinforcements, especially for the second-line center position.

One thing is certain: it will be a big day for the Canadiens’ front office, and we know the executives will be in Brossard for this important day.

Kent Hughes’ phone is likely to be busy in the coming hours, especially following Kirby Dach’s unfortunate injury, which has created an immediate need for the Montreal Canadiens.
