LITTLE ROCK (KATV) — A woman was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor on Tuesday after deputies found her and her two missing children.
According to River Valley Now, Angelica Solis and her two children, Malachi and Nevaeh, had been missing since Friday, March 19.
That day, Pope County deputies responded after Angelica’s car was found abandoned in a pond in Pottsville near Spivey Road. They found items belonging to children floating in the pond, but no one was found in or around the vehicle.
After speaking with witnesses, it was determined that a woman and two small children had been in the vehicle, but had exited it.
On Tuesday, the woman and her children were found and taken to the Pope County Sheriff’s Office where the woman was interviewed concerning the situation.
DHS was called to speak with the children and the woman was charged with endangering the welfare of a minor.
After more than a month of desperate searches, countless unanswered questions, and public speculation, six-year-old Lily Sullivan and her four-year-old brother Jack have been found safe. They were located late Saturday evening in a remote cabin near East Trenton, Nova Scotia, along with their mother, Malikia Brooks Murray. The children are alive, physically unharmed, and now in protective custody with social services. But the story doesn’t end there—because shortly after the discovery, Malikia was arrested by RCMP officers on charges related to child abduction and obstruction of justice.
For weeks, the case had gripped the nation. Two young children disappeared from their home in Lansdown Station on May 2nd, 2025, triggering a wave of fear, heartbreak, and speculation. The initial story from Malikia and her partner, Daniel Martell, seemed strange from the start: they said Lily and Jack had slipped quietly out a sliding door while the adults were sleeping. No one heard the door open. No one noticed the kids were gone for nearly two hours. And the 911 call came long after most parents would have dialed.
From the outside, they were a blended family living in a rural trailer home—Malikia, Daniel, baby Meadow, and the two missing siblings. But from the beginning, cracks in the story began to show. Daniel claimed he searched muddy roads and waist-deep water before police arrived, yet he appeared calm, composed, and spotless on camera. Malikia gave a single interview, then abruptly left the search effort to stay with relatives. The public noticed inconsistencies. Law enforcement noticed, too.
As the RCMP Major Crimes Unit took over, attention zeroed in on the trailer on Gerlock Road. This wasn’t just the family’s current home—it was also Daniel Martell’s childhood home. The silence around what had or hadn’t been found inside raised even more questions. Had the property been fully searched? Had officers missed something crucial? Speculation swirled online. Investigators took Daniel’s phone. They interviewed dozens of neighbors. But the leads seemed to dry up—until now.
The breakthrough came not from forensic evidence or a tip, but from dogged police work and a single reported sighting of a woman with two small children at a gas station outside New Glasgow. Surveillance footage captured what appeared to be Malikia and the kids—Lily wearing her distinctive pink rain boots, Jack in his dinosaur ones. An RCMP unit was dispatched immediately. What they found shocked even seasoned officers.
Inside a small, rented cabin nearly an hour away from the family’s official residence, they found the missing siblings curled up on a couch under a blanket. Malikia was with them, calm but visibly exhausted. There was no sign of Daniel Martell. Officers arrested Malikia on the spot and transported her to a nearby detachment for questioning.
Early reports suggest Malikia may have orchestrated the children’s disappearance intentionally, possibly with help. The charges against her include abduction, interfering with custody, and providing false information to police. A publication ban now covers much of the legal process, but sources say investigators are working to determine whether anyone else was involved—and what the motive may have been.
The discovery of the children alive is a rare bright moment in a case that had, for many, felt like it was heading toward tragedy. For weeks, the public followed each new video posted by investigators and creators alike, dissecting the parents’ body language, voice tone, and timeline inconsistencies. Were these truly devastated parents? Or something more sinister?
Now, with Malikia in custody, the spotlight turns to Daniel Martell. He has not been arrested and continues to maintain his innocence. But law enforcement sources confirm he is still a person of interest. His early claims—that he scoured every road and screamed for the children until his throat hurt—are now being reevaluated under a different lens. Was he genuinely trying to find the children, or buying time while Malikia fled?
Investigators will also be reexamining the days leading up to the disappearance. Why were the children kept home from school for a full week before May 2nd? Why did both parents speak in past tense when referring to Lily and Jack? And what was the real reason for the two-hour delay before calling for help?
More importantly, where were the children during the time they were missing? Was the cabin their only hideout, or had they been moved? Were they in danger, or simply hidden? Child protection workers say the siblings appear to be in good health, but psychological evaluations are ongoing.
One of the most haunting elements in the original investigation was the emotional flatness shown by the parents. Experts noted that they didn’t plead directly to their children in public. There were no messages of love, no desperate appeals. Instead, their statements focused on how they were perceived—how careful they usually were, how heartbroken they felt, how much they hoped someone else would bring the kids home. Now, it seems one of those parents may have known all along where Lily and Jack were.
For the Cypeknatic First Nation community, which has supported the family throughout the ordeal, the emotions are complex. Relief that the children are safe. Anger that they may have been misled. Betrayal that their trust could have been used to mask a deeper truth. As of now, the community is rallying around the children and the grandmother, Cindy Murray, who has been a constant presence throughout the search.
RCMP have promised more updates in the days ahead, and a news conference is expected early next week. For now, they are asking the public not to speculate or interfere with the ongoing investigation. But with a mother under arrest and more questions than answers, the public’s interest is far from fading.
Lily and Jack are no longer missing—but their story is far from over. How long were they gone? What did they see? And what, if anything, were they told to say? These are questions that only time—and investigation—can answer.
As new leads emerge and the case moves from search to prosecution, True Crime Chronicles will continue to follow every development. For now, two children are safe. A mother is behind bars. And the truth is just beginning to surface.
