Married at First Sight Australia star Jamie Marinos appeared on ITV’s Lorraine on Tuesday to discuss her marriage to Dave Hand and her new “friendship” with Eliot Donovan

Married at First Sight Australia star Jamie Marinos admitted “it’s complicated” as she addressed her relationship with Eliot Donovan.

The reality TV star appeared on ITV’s Lorraine on Tuesday (July 22), where she spoke to host Christine Lampard about her time on the hit dating show earlier this year.

The couple were delighted when they first crossed paths at the altar, with their connection continuing to grow over the following weeks.

However, Dave shocked the cast later in the series when he admitted that his feelings weren’t progressing as much as Jamie’s, leading to their split after the show ended.

Speaking on today’s Lorraine, Jamie said: “I honestly went in thinking I am going to have it all. I am going to walk out with my man, have my babies – it didn’t plan out that way, but that’s okay.”

On her and Dave’s relationship breakdown, she added: “That was a real kick to the teeth. When they say that the carpet’s ripped out from under you, that’s exactly what it felt like because no one saw it coming.

“I remember looking around at production, cameramen, cast, and no one could make sense of it. Everyone was so shocked.

“He wasn’t giving any indication, even in his private camera moments, so it came out of nowhere. At that point, I felt that heartbreak and I knew public humiliation was about to come my way too and just overall rejection.

“I think it was a really tough time for me, but then there is a lot of beauty in the lessons you learn and the strength that you acquire.”

Jamie went on to confirm that she has not been in touch with Dave since the show, adding: “I think it’s for the best.

“We both needed to protect our own peace and find our own happiness. I’m not closed off from reconnecting as friends in the future because we did share a really unique experience, but at the moment, no contact.”

Months on from the end of the series, Jamie has been rumoured to be in a relationship with her co-star Eliot Donovan after the pair have been seen together on social media.

On MAFS, Eliot notably left his first wife, Lauren Hall, on their honeymoon, before being re-matched with Veronica Cloherty. However, they ended up leaving the experiment before the final vows.

On her relationship with Eliot, Jamie told Lorraine viewers: “Eliot and I, look we definitely fell into a flirtationship. I was very much off the market during airing, I didn’t want anyone to know that Dave and I didn’t work out because we were such a love story.

“And then, kind of as soon as I was like, ‘I’m free and single’, Eliot and I’s friendship definitely developed. We kind of explored something a little bit more. ”

She concluded: “It’s a bit complicated being in two different states so what we did want to focus on is the friendship because it’s a really beautiful friendship.”
