Another week of room reveals on The Block, and another week of viewers not agreeing with the judges! Sunday night saw each team deliver two kids’ bedrooms with almost $200,000 in prizes to be won.

Judges Shaynna Blaze, Darren Palmer and Marty Fox might be the experts on the show, but the viewers at home aren’t so sure about that. Fans watching on Sunday night had a lot to say about the rooms that House 4’s Sonny and Alicia delivered—and the judges’ assessment of them.

The first room the pair presented was clearly one for two young boys, and the judges were instantly impressed when they saw the blue plaid wallpaper and cowboy framed prints, with Darren saying, “I am enamoured with everything I see on that wall and in front of it.”

Shaynna agreed that the wallpaper was beautiful, but as for the other side of the room, she thought it looked like a “really bad motel” that had a “TV plonked on the wall”.

While she didn’t think the painting was done to a good enough standard, she added that the room did make her feel happy, saying, “I think they’re setting themselves apart from the other houses.”

When they walked into the second pink bedroom, with a pink version of the plaid wallpaper and a bigger bed, the judges were impressed, but they each thought it didn’t fit the brief.

“I thought we were judging kids’ rooms?” Marty questioned, with Shaynna joking that it’s a kid’s bedroom, just one that’s grown up and moved back home because they’ve “run out of money”.

“But I agree,” she added. “I am in an adults room. The brief is two kids’ bedrooms .”

The fans were quick to disagree, with one viewer writing, “Not a kids room?! My 12 year old daughter would love their pink room!”

“I don’t get Shaynna’s comments at all about the pink room!” another said. “I thought it was the perfect room for a teenager. My daughters would love this room and they’re 6 and 9! Loved it!”

“Love these rooms. Teenaged me would die for that pink room,” a third wrote. “So classy and beautiful.”

“It baffles me that the judges don’t understand the market at all,” someone else said.

“Totally, need new judges,” one viewer agreed. “Especially Marty who seems to just like the sound of his own voice.”

“The pink room is definitely a room for a teenage girl,” yet another said. “I don’t see what the problem was other than needing some plants.”
