Noel Hoefenmayer

We witnessed a frightening scene last night during the Laval Rocket game. Defenseman Noel Hoefenmayer, an important part of Pascal Vincent’s squad, experienced a medical episode on the bench and collapsed.

The excellent Anthony Marcotte was the one who reported the incident.

“Something just happened on the Rocket bench with Noel Hoefenmayer.

We didn’t see the sequence clearly on the web, but he appears to have collapsed on the bench before regaining consciousness.

There was a moment of panic for a few seconds.

Play has resumed, so I presume it’s nothing serious.”

A frightening scene on the Laval Rocket bench involving Noel Hoefenmayer

Marcotte later reported that the young Hoefenmayer was rushed to the Abbotsford hospital as a precautionary measure.

A very good decision.

“The Rocket announces that defenseman Noel Hoefenmayer was transported to the hospital in Abbotsford as a precautionary measure. He was hit hard by the Canucks’ Tristen Nielsen before experiencing what appeared to be a medical episode on the bench a few moments later.”

The game was stopped for about six or seven minutes. Our thoughts are with Hoefenmayer today!

It wasn’t a pretty sight..

Hoefenmayer, 26 years old, is a 6-foot-1, 204-pound left-handed defenseman acquired in a trade with the Edmonton Oilers this past December (in exchange for Jacob Perreault).

He has 12 points in 29 games this season with Laval, but beyond the stats, he’s truly become an important piece for Pascal Vincent on defense.
