Barry ‘The Bear’ Myrden is ready to sweep the ladies off their feet on The Golden Bachelor.

In the hours leading up to the show’s premiere, the silver fox was charming radio host Kate Ritchie, 47.

The 61-year-old put in some shameless flirting during an appearance on Nova 96.9’s Fitzy & Wippa with Kate Ritchie.

The teasing exchange began when co-host Michael ‘Wippa’ Wipfli suggested that Kate was looking for romance.

‘Well, maybe Bear, if you didn’t find love on the show, we could organise something?’ Wippa said.

Kate was having none of it and tried to shut down the conversation.

‘I don’t need anyone to organise anything for me,’ she said, before Barry showed his true colours: ‘I wish I had a rose.’

Kate dismissed the cheeky reality star with a laugh and said, ‘It’s gonna take more than a rose.’

During the chat, Barry admitted he was ‘nervous’ after meeting the first few of the 20 hopefuls, describing his time on the show as ‘surreal’.

And in a surprising admission, he said that he did not mind getting intimate on camera with his dates.

‘I was pretty comfortable with it,’ he said about sharing a kiss on screen, adding: ‘I just blocked out the cameras… I was in the moment.’

Sam Armytage, host The Golden Bachelor, also joined the segment and was asked whether she would like to star as the Golden Bachelorette – if the offer came up.

‘Well, I don’t know if I’d be brave enough,’ she said.

‘And hearing Bear say he’s happy to make out on camera, which he was, I don’t know if I could!’

Sam said she was ‘quite shy’ but Kate was not convinced.

‘Oh come on Sam, what I will give you credit for Samantha Armytage is you do coy very well!’ said Kate.

Elsewhere in the segment, Barry revealed that behind-the-scenes the ladies enjoyed a good time.

‘I  think there were neighbours who were complaining about the noise at three in the morning,’ he joked.

It comes after Barry was spotted shooting scenes for the reality show in March, piloting a retro Italian speedboat across Sydney Harbour before meeting the women who would compete for his heart.

Among the contestants is TV and radio personality Bianca Dye, 51, best known for her long-running radio career. She currently co-hosts a breakfast show on Queensland’s Sea FM 90.9.

Another hopeful is believed to be Queenslander Lauren George, who was seen arriving on set in hair rollers and full glam makeup.

Producers promise a more mature, heartfelt take on the long-running dating franchise, with Barry bringing a lifetime of love and loss to the screen.

‘He’s not your usual reality TV type,’ an insider said.

‘He’s charming, intelligent and has really lived a full life. He’s been through love, loss and now he’s ready to open his heart again. Women are going to adore him.’

The Golden Bachelor has been a smash hit in the US, and fans have been clamouring for an Australian edition since its premiere.
