Eamonn Holmes left his GB News co-star Ellie Costello squirming as he dished out a scathing verdict on marriage live on air on Wednesday.

The TV presenter, 65, joined Ellie, 31, in discussing the news that Hollywood star Nicole Kidman had split from country singer Keith Urban.

Eamonn, who split with Loose Women star Ruth Langsford after 27 years together in 2024, wasted no time in delivering his verdict.

He made a blistering ten-word remark about marriage as the duo reported on the break-up, leaving Ellie scrambling to know what to say.

After sharing the news of the split between Nicole, 58, and Keith, 57, with viewers, Ellie remarked: ‘I think that’s very sad, they’ve got two children together’.

But Eamonn hit out: ‘None of us know [what went on]. The two of them could have despised each other and absolutely wanted to walk away from each other and we think it’s awful.’

When Ellie continued: ‘Well I think it’s sad when any marriage ends,’ Eamonn hit back: ‘That’s because you’ve just started (your marriage).

‘You haven’t got to the bitter and twisted part yet!’

It was revealed earlier this week that Oscar winner Nicole and singer Keith were due to go their separate ways after almost two decades of marriage.

The couple, who wed in 2006, share two daughters, Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 14.

Sources told PEOPLE that the split had been devastating particularly for Nicole, who had been fighting to save their crumbling relationship.

‘Nicole’s sister [Antonia] has been a rock and the entire Kidman family has come together to support one another,’ a source close to Nicole told the publication.

‘She didn’t want this. She has been fighting to save the marriage.’

Reports that surfaced by TMZ revealed the pair had been living in separate homes since the start of the summer, with Keith heading away from the family to Nashville.

But sources continued to PEOPLE that while it comes as a shock to outsiders, Nicole and Keith’s close circle have known about their separation ‘for a while’.

They added: ‘It really hasn’t been a secret that they’ve been living separately for a while now, and people close to Keith felt like the split was kind of inevitable.’

The actress and musician’s separation was confirmed by the Daily Mail on Monday, with the couple ending their almost two decades of marriage.

Nicole filed for divorce on Tuesday – citing irreconcilable differences.

A source claimed to the Daily Mail that there is speculation that Keith has already moved on with a younger woman in the music industry.

GB News host Eamonn’s marriage broke down last year, as he and Ruth, 65, who had long worked together on ITV, shocked fans by heading for divorce.

It followed the Loose Women star finding out her husband had been ‘sharing intimate chats’ with another woman, finding evidence on his personal laptop.

The TV star has been dating counsellor Katie Alexander, 42, since his split from Ruth and has been open about his new partner.

Eamonn proved he was very much enjoying his new romance after the pair jetted off for a luxury holiday together over the summer.

The presenter and his new girlfriend first exchanged flirty messages on social media in 2012 according The Sun.

The TV host and relationship therapist were both married at the time and the messages initially included her then husband George.

Katie’s former partner joked he believed his wife was ‘flirting’ with Eamonn, but with both men sharing a love for Manchester United, quipped: ‘Good job we’re both Red.’

A source told the publication: ‘We knew Eamonn and Katie got together via social media, but no one knew how far back they went.

‘Ruth will be shocked they were in contact 12 years ago. I don’t think she would have known.’
