The nominations for the 65th TV WEEK Logie Awards have been announced, honouring the best shows and stars in Australian television. The ceremony will be held on Sunday, August 3, and broadcast live on Channel 7, with Sam Pang once again taking on the hosting role for the third consecutive year.

Seven celebrities have been nominated for the coveted Gold Logie, which is a public-voted award for the most popular personality on Australian television. For the first time in the award show’s history, the group of nominees includes six women and only one man.

TV presenters Ally Langdon, Julia Morris, Lisa Millar, Poh Ling Yeow, Sonia Kruger and Home and Away star Lynne McGranger are up for the top award alongside former winner Hamish Blake.

The Gold Logie nomination has historically been shared amongst male and female stars; however, only five women have won the award in the past 20 years.

“It feels really amazing to be part of this historical moment,” Poh Ling Yeow told Yahoo Lifestyle at the nominations event on Monday. “And I think also, quite a few of the ladies are middle-aged, which I think is amazing, because I think this is our moment to shine.”

Lisa Millar added that she’s not just celebrating the fact that there are so many women nominated this year, but also that they’re all “really decent people”.

“I know a lot of them already, and they’re supportive, they’re wonderful,” she shared. “We’ve already been having loads of laughs together, and I think that’s what’s important, to sort of say, hey, you know what? It’s not just that there’s a lot of women, it’s proving that you can be decent in this industry and actually support other women and still make it to be a Gold Logie nominee.

“That’s what I’m taking away from who I am up against – and Hamish, who we love.”
