Former TV chef Pete Evans is known to share his forthright opinions on social media.

But he showed off a lighter side on Friday with a charming post featuring his pet magpie Mav.

Evans, 52, shared a photo of the black-and-white Australian native bird tucking into a delicious-looking meal.

In his post, Evans didn’t share details as to whether he had especially set aside the dish for his feathered friend.

‘Mav checking out last night’s wild venison and organic bok choy stir fry,’ the former My Kitchen Rules star said in the caption.

Evans, who was axed by Channel Seven following a string of controversies, has often featured his bird in his culinary posts.

Introducing the new family member to his followers back in July, Evans shared images of a family picnic featuring his dog, Mav, and daughter Indi.

‘Greetings from the kitchen on the grass!’ he announced in the caption.

‘On tonight’s menu we have fat lamb cutlets, broth and tuna tartare on black truffle chips (one of Indi’s faves).

‘Looking forward to our next Cooking retreat in a couple of weeks.

‘Mav said the tartare was next level.’

His wife Nicola Robinson filmed the clip, which showed the family lying outside on a picnic blanket enjoying dinner together in the sun.

Later on in the clip, everyone dug into the feast made by Evans, who even fed a piece of the tartare to the new family member.

Evans’ followers poured into the comments section of the clip to gush over the idyllic mealtime and the welcome dinner guest.

‘Magpie’s part of the family,’ one person wrote.

Another wrote: ‘Sooo good! Love the Maggie full in on the action mate.’

‘My heart smiles to see the wild bird feed from your hand, a sacred trust,’ another chimed in.

‘Love your birdie friends too just hanging around,’ one person pointed out.

He recently shared another cute photo of the bird, which saw Mav perched on Evans’s knee while the chef enjoyed a view of the countryside at sunset from his verandah.

‘Dinner time with Mav,’ Evans captioned the post.

Evans has assumed a relatively low profile since he was dropped by 15 sponsors and companies in the space of 48 hours in November 2020, after posting a neo-Nazi meme on social media.

He has also faced a string of controversies over the past few years..

In May 2020, it was announced that Evans had parted ways with Channel Seven after 10 years as a judge on My Kitchen Rules alongside Manu Feildel and guest judge Colin Fassnidge.

It effectively marked his break from the mainstream after years of flirting with off-the-wall ideas during his tenure at the network.

Free from the contractual constraints of mainstream network television, Evans began spouting his non-scientific beliefs about vaccines and the Covid-19 pandemic on social media.

In July, 2020, Evans sparked outrage when he falsely claimed that Covid-19 was a ‘f***ing hoax’ and that the pandemic ‘doesn’t compare to what is happening in the world on a large scale’.

The former TV star is a very open supporter of US President Donald Trump.

In April, he met with Trump, 78, and billionaire Elon Musk as part of the Make America Healthy Again program.
