MVP said: “Fixing a professional boxing match is a federal crime in the United States. The fight between Paul and Tyson was licensed by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) and both fighters were fighting with the intention of winning.”

The statement went on to stress that there was no clause, whether in the contract or any other agreement, that limited the two fighters’ ability to compete.

“Each fighter used all of his skills to win. Any arrangement to the contrary is a violation of TDLR regulations,” MVP asserted.

The organizers also strongly criticized the rumors: “Speculation and jokes are common in sports, but to imply that two fighters did not fight at their best is not only naive but also an insult to the efforts they put in.”
