Shakur Stevenson Warns Terence Crawford to Avoid Canelo Alvarez Fight

In a bold statement that has sparked conversation across the boxing world, Shakur Stevenson has publicly urged Terence “Bud” Crawford to steer clear of a potential clash with Canelo Alvarez.
The two-division champion cited the significant risks involved in the fight and questioned whether Crawford, despite his undeniable skill set, should pursue such a daunting challenge.
Stevenson, widely regarded as one of boxing’s most talented young stars, did not mince words when discussing the prospect of Crawford moving up in weight to face Canelo.
“Terence Crawford is one of the most skilled fighters of our generation, no doubt about that,” Stevenson said in a recent interview. “But going up against Canelo Alvarez is a whole different ballgame.
Canelo is bigger, stronger, and incredibly experienced at those higher weight classes. It’s a huge risk.”
Stevenson pointed out that while Crawford has demonstrated mastery in dismantling opponents like Errol Spence Jr., the leap to face a seasoned power-puncher like Canelo might be too great.
Canelo Alvarez, who has fought as high as light heavyweight, is known for his formidable punching power and ability to adapt to different styles. Stevenson emphasized the physical disparity that could tilt the fight heavily in Canelo’s favor.
Terence Crawford, fresh off his dominant victory over Errol Spence Jr., has been exploring options to cement his legacy.
While a potential fight with Canelo Alvarez would draw massive attention and money, Stevenson suggests that Crawford focus on challenges within his more natural weight range.
“There’s no shortage of big fights for Crawford,” Stevenson noted. “He could aim for undisputed status in another division or take on rising stars who would push him without forcing him to risk everything.”
Stevenson’s warning isn’t about doubting Crawford’s ability but rather about preserving his career and legacy. “Sometimes, the best move isn’t about proving you can do it all.
It’s about playing it smart, and I hope Crawford listens to that,” Stevenson concluded.
As speculation swirls around Crawford’s next move, the possibility of a showdown with Canelo Alvarez remains both exciting and contentious.
Fans will undoubtedly debate whether Crawford should heed Stevenson’s advice or take the leap for a fight that could redefine his career.
For now, all eyes remain on Crawford as he decides the next chapter in his already illustrious boxing journey.
