Overall, we can say that the Montreal Canadiens’ performances have been strong since returning from the Four Nations Faceoff break.

Since coming back, the team has been playing well and has secured big wins.

It’s clear that the players want to convince Kent Hughes not to sell at the trade deadline.

Nick Suzuki recently stated this loud and clear, and yesterday, Alexandre Carrier reinforced that message by saying he wants the team to stay intact after March 7.

Canadiens players send a message to Kent Hughes: they don’t want the team to be sellers at the trade deadline

Here’s an excerpt from Alexandre Carrier’s statement:

This kind of statement sends a strong message to management.

If Jeff Gorton and Kent Hughes have already decided to trade pending free agents, there won’t be much that can change their minds.

But if management is still undecided, the team’s performances could tip the scales.

 

Should the Canadiens really trade some veterans for mid-round draft picks and risk breaking the team’s chemistry?

That’s a question management will have to answer within the next nine days.

According to the latest rumors, Jake Evans and Joel Armia seem to be the most likely players to be moved in the coming days.

David Savard’s name has also been mentioned, but don’t expect Kent Hughes to trade him for just a third- or fourth-round pick, at least, I’d be very surprised if that happens.
