We have an update regarding Montreal Canadiens forward Josh Anderson.

Let’s recall that Anderson ended up being a last-minute scratch for Saturday night’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers, and he never hit the ice with his teammates for warmups.

He was expected to play tonight.

A new announcement from the Canadiens regarding Josh Anderson

As we suspected, the Canadiens organization has just confirmed that their number 17 forward is out tonight “for family reasons.”

That explains it.

The Canadiens announce that Josh Anderson will not play in tonight’s game against the Philadelphia Flyers due to “family reasons.”

After Thursday’s 4-1 win over the Boston Bruins, he said his wife was due to give birth to their first child “any day now.”

This confirms it’s not injury-related, which is great news.

If his wife is indeed giving birth to their first child, we’re sending them a huge wave of positive vibes and keeping them in our thoughts!

Oliver Kapanen replaced Josh Anderson

It’s worth noting that in the veteran’s absence, young Kapanen is getting his first opportunity since returning from Europe.

Details to follow.
