Lily & Jack Sullivan: Daniel’s Secrets EXPOSED! Vanished at Home?
My mother had to kick… kick some people off the property because they were saying that I did it — that I had something to do with it. Gearlock Road, Landsdown Station, Nova Scotia — a desolate strip where the woods guard secrets and truth slips away.
On May 2nd, 2025, six-year-old Lily Sullivan and her four-year-old brother Jack vanished from their trailer home, leaving toys frozen in time… and a stepfather, Daniel Martell, whose story crumbles under scrutiny.
Did Lily and Jack wander into the forest?
Or does the truth hide inside that trailer’s walls?
Tonight, we expose Daniel’s shadowy past.
A mother’s desperate escape and a community haunted by what they saw — or missed.

The last few days have been very stressful. I mean, ever since that Friday morning when we noticed the children were gone — we immediately jumped in the vehicle, surveyed all the areas, as many dirt roads and culverts as we could, and waited for the police to get there.
They were awesome kids — very, very kind.
They’d talk to anyone. They just wanted to have fun.
Jack absolutely loved bugs, dinosaurs, and anything like that.
Lily loved girly things, but she also loved doing everything with Jack — bugs included. They weren’t just siblings — they were best friends.
Daniel Martell’s words paint a picture of loving kids.
But his story raises chilling questions.
A 33-year-old lumber mill worker, Daniel clocks just one day a week — barely enough to support Maleah Brooks Murray, their 16-month-old daughter Meadow, and stepchildren Lily and Jack.
According to The Chronicle Herald, he inherited the trailer on Gearlock Road after his father’s death a decade ago. He lives beside his mother, Linda Martell, in a camper overrun with cats and a dog.
Described as reclusive by neighbors, Linda’s camper was visited multiple times by RCMP. Yet, no interview details have emerged.
Did she hear Lily’s pink boots, or Jack’s dinosaur boots, that morning?
Her silence is a question mark.
Neighbors offer glimpses of the family’s life.
Madison Spears, whose daughter played with Lily and Jack at birthday parties in the Lansdown Community Hall, told The Chronicle Herald the family was private — but not strange. Daniel was polite but guarded, often fixing cars in the yard. Malleah seemed overwhelmed with three kids.
Another neighbor, anonymous to CBC News, noticed Daniel’s odd hours — leaving the trailer late at night, though no one reported trouble before the disappearance.
The trailer was cluttered — toys, car parts everywhere. It was lived in, but chaotic. Spears said the family seemed stretched thin. But the kids were active, loud, playing freely in the yard — hardly isolated.
Daniel’s account of May 2nd is shaky.
He told The Globe and Mail he saw Lily in a pink shirt, heard Jack in the kitchen — then noticed silence. He claimed the sliding door was “practically silent,” and said the boots — Lily’s pink, Jack’s blue dinosaurs — were gone.
In a cramped trailer, how do two small kids — one still in pull-ups — slip out unheard?
Daniel described Jack’s boots without seeing him. His slip-up on CBC: “I know they’re out there… or something is.” Chilling.
Even stranger: his request to take a polygraph test, which stunned experts.
“It’s either confidence or deflection,” a retired RCMP officer said.
Why gamble with a test most suspects avoid?
Daniel and Maleah claimed the kids had undiagnosed autism, insisting they wouldn’t stray far.
But CBC News uncovered a stark contradiction.
At Salt Springs Elementary, a teacher described Lily as outgoing, always sketching giraffes, with no sensory issues. Bus driver Brian Ward, who last saw them on April 29th, said Jack was chatty and dinosaur-obsessed.
So why claim autism?
Was it to explain the 48-hour gap when no one saw them?
The days of Thursday and Friday, when Lily was reportedly sick and missed school, remain a black hole.
No neighbors, no school staff — no one saw Lily or Jack after April 29th.
Daniel told CBC that after the disappearance, Maleah left the area to be with her family and blocked him on social media.
He said:
“My mother had to kick… kick some people off the property ’cause they were saying I did it. That I had something to do with it. And I’m the only one here fighting for them — which is sad.”
The children’s maternal grandmother, Cindy Murray, told The Canadian Press the family is hoping and praying. Her refusal to speak further — reportedly due to RCMP advice — deepens the mystery.
Maleah Brooks Murray, 28, a Cypeknicatic First Nation member, moved to Gearlock Road in 2023 after meeting Daniel through a Stellarton friend. A former cashier, she became a stay-at-home mother after Meadow’s birth — struggling with the isolation of trailer life.
Quoted:
“I want them home. I want to hold them.”
She mentioned homeschooling Lily for sensory issues — yet school staff saw no such struggles.
The children’s biological father had been absent since Jack’s birth. Daniel was their primary male figure. Neighbors described Maleah as devoted, but stressed — always rushing at school drop-offs, rarely socializing.
On May 3rd, the family imploded.
A volatile confrontation erupted in the yard. Maleah’s mother, Cindy, and relatives accused Daniel of knowing more. Daniel’s mother Linda allegedly escalated things — demanding Maleah leave.
Maleah fled with Meadow to Colchester County, cutting contact with Daniel.
Child Protective Services barred Daniel from seeing Meadow within 24 hours — a swift move for a man not named a suspect.
Cindy’s anger toward the RCMP for not issuing an Amber Alert hints at deeper tensions.
Why did Maleah run?
Was it grief, fear, or a truth she couldn’t face?
Linda Martell’s camper — just steps from the trailer — is a silent enigma.
Described as reclusive, barely mentioned in RCMP updates, she was visited by officers repeatedly, reports say.
Did she hear the kids playing?
Did she witness the family’s clash?
Her absence from public statements is deafening.
Daniel handed over his phone, bank records, and Google Maps data. His cooperation contrasts with his odd phrasing — and the polygraph push.
The Major Crime Unit, involved since May 3rd, seems focused on the trailer and camper — not just the woods.
The search was grueling.
160 volunteers, drones, K9 units, infrared technology combed 5.5 km of Pictou County woods.
One child’s footprint was found, according to Newsweek — but led nowhere.
A pink blanket and water bottle were recovered — but Daniel swore they weren’t Lily or Jack’s.
Whose were they, in a place with no other kids?
RCMP’s underwater recovery team searched Lansdown Lake on May 8th.
Nothing found.
The trailer — untouched for days — remains the case’s heart.
By May 15th, investigators pivoted to specific areas around Gearlock Road, Newsweek reports, hinting at new leads.
Over 180 tips.
35 interviews.
Still — no answers.
RCMP’s silence screams suspicion.
Landsdown’s 100 residents cling to fading hope.
Bus driver Brian Ward chokes up as children ask,
“Where’s Lily and Jack?”
The Cypeknicatic First Nation ties pink ribbons, praying.
A teddy bear and flowers now sit outside the Stellarton RCMP detachment — a beacon amid grief.
The truth lies on Gearlock Road —
In Daniel’s contradictions,
Maleah’s flight,
Or Linda’s silence.
