In a joyful revelation that has sent waves of excitement across the entertainment world, beloved “Today” show co-anchor Hoda Kotb has officially announced her upcoming wedding, set to take place in the summer of 2025.
But while fans are thrilled for the 59-year-old journalist and TV personality, it’s the identity of the groom that has left many genuinely surprised.
During Wednesday morning’s broadcast of NBC’s “Today,” Kotb stunned her co-hosts and viewers when she shared the happy news live on air.
“I’ve got something very special to tell you all,” she said, beaming. “I’m getting married next summer—and I can’t keep it to myself any longer.”
While her colleagues erupted in applause, it was her next announcement that drew audible gasps: her fiancé is none other than Jeffrey Max, the Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker and environmental advocate known for his work with National Geographic and PBS.
Kotb and Max, both highly private individuals when it comes to their personal lives, had reportedly been quietly dating for over a year after meeting at a charity event in New York City.

“We bonded over a shared love of storytelling and our kids,” Kotb explained. “He’s a dad too, and our lives just blended in the most natural way.”
Fans will remember that Kotb was previously engaged to Joel Schiffman, with whom she shares two adopted daughters, Haley and Hope.
The pair called off their engagement in 2022 but remained on good terms.

Sources close to Kotb say the relationship with Max has been “incredibly grounding” and that she has “never looked happier.”
The couple is reportedly planning a small, intimate ceremony with close family and friends, possibly in the Hamptons or upstate New York.
Kotb’s announcement quickly became a trending topic on social media, with many fans sending their congratulations and expressing surprise at the unexpected but heartwarming pairing.
As she wrapped the segment, Kotb left viewers with a touching reflection: “At this stage in life, you know what matters—and love, family, and joy are everything. I’m just really grateful.”
More details about the wedding, including the official date and guest list, are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.
