Guy Sebastian’s latest album, 100 Times Around the Sun, has gone from a much-hyped comeback to a chart flop in record time.

The album, released on August 8, entered the ARIA albums chart at number two for the week of August 18, thanks largely to pre-orders and media hype.

But just weeks later, it has completely vanished from the chart, while the album’s tracklist is also a no-show on the ARIA singles chart.

The album, which has been described as Guy’s most ‘personal’ to date, arrived nearly five years after his previous release, T.R.U.T.H in 2020.

Guy – who this week announced his 100 Times Around the Sun national tour for 2026 – struggled to gain momentum while promoting the album.

A poorly attended launch event at Darwin’s dilapidated Casuarina Square shopping centre kicked off the lacklustre promotions circuit last month.

Just eight or so people had lined up to see the former chart topper and Australian Idol winner for a signing session.

Store bosses insisted around 40 people queued up to meet and greet the star at the centre’s JB Hi-Fi shop, but Daily Mail staff at the scene put the real figure closer to just eight.

The event suddenly ended after he was introduced to a young girl, who tried to give him a picture she’d painted of him.

Guy politely declined the gift, saying it would be better if she kept it and adding that it looked ‘amazing’.

Instead, he offered to sign the picture, telling the child her painting made him look like a ‘police officer’ and that she had ‘nailed it’.

Guy and his entourage left the store shortly after, with the star appearing tired and forlorn as he attempted to smile for the few diehard fans present.

The one-time hitmaker has been doing the shopping centre circuit in New South Wales, performing for a disappointing crowd during a free event at Westfield Parramatta three weeks ago.

In a clip posted to TikTok by Jennifer Liu, Guy was filmed at the shopping centre singing his heart out to his 2009 hit tune Like It Like That.

As the Aussie star belted out the chorus, shoppers could be seen walking through the mall, appearing unfazed and unaware of his concert below.

‘Why is Guy Sebastian casually playing in Parramatta haha,’ read the text on the video, which has amassed over 218,000 views.

The clip was captioned below: ‘Was not what I expected when I came to Parra today LOL.’

Fans also expressed their shock that the superstar was now playing to small crowds in shopping centres.

‘I thought he was really famous, why’s there barely any people?’ one asked.

Another pointed out: ‘Bro this guy fell off the face of the earth just to return like this.’

‘Literally was such a random quest,’ one fan said.

Days later, Guy made an appearance at the Apple Store in Sydney’s CBD.

‘Stumbled upon a pop-up Guy Sebastian show at the city Apple Store tonight?’ one person captioned the clip.

Social media users flooded the post to poke fun at the performance.

‘And the crowd goes mild,’ one person wrote below the post.

Another quipped: ‘Who approved his busking licence?’

‘Did you get the phone cable you were looking for or was Guy blocking the shelf?’ one social media user joked.

Of course, Guy has more pressing matters to worry about at the moment – he’s currently recovering from spinal surgery.

He announced the news of his health battle last weekend, sharing a photo of himself lying in his hospital bed.

‘They say it comes in threes. There’s been a lot of highs this year but it’s also been a year where I’ve had to manage a LOT of physical pain,’ Guy wrote.

‘The worst of it has been this nerve pain in my spine shooting down my right side. I wouldn’t wish this pain on anyone,’ he continued.

‘It just never stops and it’s all-consuming, while trying to work, travel, do gigs etc.’

Guy added he was relieved the surgery was completed and he looked forward to making a full recovery.
