Sheinelle Jones shares update on her absence from the Today show

Journalist Sheinelle Jones has addressed her absence from the Today show, revealing that she is dealing with a “family heath matter.”

Jones, who is one of the beloved hosts of Today 3rd Hour, sparked concern after she was noticeably missing from fans’ screens last week. As many were worried there could’ve been a switch-up in the network, the 46-year-old confirmed she was out due to a family issue.

In a statement on Instagram, Jones penned: “Hi everybody….I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show.

I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter. It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today Show family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon. Love, Sheinelle.”

During the Wednesday, Jan. 15 broadcast, Jones’ Today co-host Savannah Guthrie said: “We want to share some news here about our friend Sheinelle.

We know so many of you have been asking about Sheinelle and missing her and we miss her too.” She then went on to read off Jones’ personal statement on-air. After the update, her other co-host Craig Melvin sweetly added: “We all love you and we are so looking forward to having you back.”
