House 5’s Robby and Mat were absolutely slammed in Sunday night’s episode.

The Block judges have left the teams speechless after delivering a major blow to Robby and Mat in Sunday night’s episode. Shaynna Blaze, Marty Fox and Darren Palmer were all a little surprised when they walked into House 5 and were not met with the wow-factor they were used to from the team.
The best friends were hoping to keep things simple and stay under budget this week, so they could potentially win the CommBank prize money for being the most under budget out of the other teams. However, Emma and Ben from House 1 scored their first win of the competition and secured themselves the $10,000 cash prize.
The boys had a major issue this week when they ran out of floorboards, as House 1’s tradies had somehow ended up with the flooring they ordered. Robby and Mat then refused to complete the room by installing a breaker board, which would ruin the herringbone floorboard pattern throughout the house. Instead, they hoped to wait for the correct floorboards and fix the room later.

Robby and Mat deliver ‘worst room’ yet
The boys decided to leave a note for the judges in the room, explaining that this was out of their control, but the judges and host Scott Cam weren’t in a forgiving mood, saying that everything is, in fact, in their power.
“How, when you’re managing the project? It’s in your full control,” Marty asked, while Darren joked, ” On the week when things don’t go your way, at least you weren’t going to win anyway”.
“Absolutely, this does not draw you in, like those other rooms that we saw today,” Marty said. “It’s not inviting, it’s not warm, it’s not Daylesford. How do you go from having one of the best weeks in Block history, everything they touched they won, and then you’ve delivered a room like this?”

What was wrong with the room?
Shaynna said she thought both the styling and colour scheme were “wrong”, adding: “This is one of their worst rooms; it’s terrible.”
“They have dropped the ball because they were winning, and they possibly got cocky. They haven’t understood the value of a second living space,” Marty said, while Darren remarked, “Like, put a mirror in here, get some art in here, consider your lighting plan, put some more built environment in here, make a little bit more effort.”
Although the judges weren’t fans of the room, interior designer Chris Carroll, director of TLC Interiors, tells Yahoo Lifestyle that he “completely disagrees” with Robby and Matt coming last.
“Sure, the wallpaper was a bit tired; we’ve seen it almost every year on The Block,” he says. “But it was a light and bright room with a contemporary feel that had a sofa oriented toward the TV. I don’t understand why they came last when Britt and Taz draped some curtains on the ceiling and put a pilates machine in the middle of the room and called it a day.”

The Block fans slam the judges’ remarks
Many of The Block viewers were firmly on the boys’ side, with one fan writing, “Unfair, the boys tried to win the Commbank prize, but the trades of the other team used their flooring and won the Commbank prize…? Make it make sense.”
“I feel sorry for the boys,” another said. “They ordered enough boards and someone else got the rewards of it.”
“Not as bad as the judges made out,” a third wrote.

“I actually don’t think this would be a turn off for buyers,” someone else wrote. “It’s a blank canvas. The buyer can add their own pictures to the wall and make it their own.”
“Sorry boys for not having enough flooring,” another said. “Room still looks amazing.”
“How was that in any way fair?” one viewer questioned. “It would be one thing if they didn’t order enough boards, but they had the right amount of boards, House 1’s trades just took them and then were rewarded for it? Mmm I smell a production decision, not a judges’ decision…”

Others weren’t so into the room, with one person saying, “Dropped the ball this week. Kmart chic.”
“Cheap vibe,” another added.
“Whether they had the floorboards or not, the room was still terrible,” a third said.
Many others suggested that Emma and Ben should face some kind of punishment for taking House 5’s floorboards.
“Yes, they’re a lovely couple, but if their tradies took supplies from someone else, a penalty should apply,” one person said.
“100 per cent agree with you! Or maybe the Commbank prize should have been split!” another responded.
