Radio host Brendan Fevola has revealed that he came close to choking to death while filming The Amazing Race: Celebrity Edition.
The AFL great, 44, who competed on the reality show alongside his daughter, Leni, 18 relived the shocking moment during Fox’s Fifi, Fev and Nick show on Tuesday.
Brendan said the incident occurred while he was filming an eating challenge in the Central Asian country of Uzbekistan – but his near-death experience never made it to air.
The Racers were tasked with consuming thirty bowls of what Brendan described as molasses, a thick syrup derived from sugarcane.
He told listeners that the experience was too much for fellow contestants Georgie Tunny and Rob Mills – who got sick after consuming what was supposed to be a local ‘delicacy’
‘They…had filled up two buckets of spew,’ he said. ‘And I’m going ”God what is happening here.”‘

He recalled how the Racers had to eat the molasses to discover a letter at the bottom of the bowl, which would take them to the next challenge.
Brendan then described how the food had got stuck in his throat, a scene that producers cut out of the final edit when it aired on Monday.
‘I couldn’t breathe and a medic had to come…it was awful,’ he said.
Elsewhere on Tuesday’s episode of Ffif, Fev and Nick, Brendan revisited the controversy over accusations of intimidation and bullying that rocked The Amazing Race this season
The radio host was joined in the studio by Luke and ‘Sassy’ Scott O’Halloran who were subjected to ‘homophobic’ slurs by Dan Middleton, brother of Ant Middleton, during the competition.
Following the altercation, the SAS Australia host and his brother were sent home for breaching the show’s code of conduct.
Previously, the O’Hallorans said that Brendan attempted to defuse the situation, physically stepping between the social media stars and Dan.
‘I think the biggest thing to say here is that we have to thank you so much,’ Scott told Brendan during an emotional reunion.

Brendan told listeners on Fox’s Fifi, Fev and Nick on Tuesday his near-death experience was cut out of Monday’s episode of The Amazing Race
‘Without you, we have no idea where that could have gone.
‘There were multiple incidents, over six times, and it kept happening. You did what so many people just don’t do today, which is stand up for what they know is right.’
Luke then added, ‘We’re on the radio right now, obviously, saying that and singing your praises, but Scott and I have had a lot of conversations behind closed doors and how grateful we were for you at that time, Fev.’
During the segment, Brendan broke his silence over the incident.
‘I know you guys can’t really speak about it, but I was there,’ the footy champ began.
‘I witnessed what one particular contestant did to you boys, and he said it to me and said it to you previously.
‘I just want to say to you boys that I’m sorry for what happened to you…you guys were getting homophobic slurs thrown your way…
‘It’s just not on. I confronted the person, and then whatever happened, happened.

Luke, 34, and Scott, 39, revealed the trouble started at their hotel in Nepal during a day off from filming.
‘Dan Middleton approached us six times, making remarks and gestures that we found homophobic, offensive, intimidatory, and disturbing,’ the pair told Sydney Confidential last week.
They continued: ‘Each time he (Dan) came over to us, the encounters felt increasingly more aggressive.
‘At one point, he was right up in our faces, surrounded by some of the other cast members, who seemed to us to be as uncomfortable as we were.’
Reports of the incident first emerged in April.
Ant Middleton, it is understood, was not involved but was disqualified along with his brother.
At the time, Brendan reportedly gave producers an ultimatum: remove the Middleton brothers or he and daughter Leni would walk.
Ant and Dan were sent home and cut from the series shortly after.
In a statement, Network Ten confirmed that a team had been disqualified for breaching the show’s code of conduct.
‘Network 10 takes the health, safety and well-being of all contestants seriously,’ a spokesperson said.
‘Following a breach of the production’s code of conduct by one contestant, on a day off during production, a team from The Amazing Race Australia was disqualified and swiftly sent home.’
