Kim Kardashian knows that growing up as a Kardashian kid can’t be easy — especially when they’re in the shadows of some of the most famous people in the world.
The SKIMS co-founder, 44, appeared on an episode of Erin and Sara Foster’s podcast World’s First Podcast and opened up about taking on more of a “momager” role for her four kids — Psalm, 5, Chicago, 7, Saint, 9, and North, 11 — as they all get a bit older.
Speaking about her daughter North, Kardashian says, “She’ll get an offer to do a photo shoot or something. And like, we really sit and talk about it as a family.”
“Like, ‘Should she do this? What’s too much? What’s not?’” she continues.
Erin jumps in, noting that North is “so young” and asks if the mom of four has been able to protect her youth at all.
“I can’t, like they’re already in it, right? Because just of who their parents are,” Kardashian responds. “And so I try to protect that and be so mindful…like them being their own people and them not feeling like they have to, you know, be in our shadows.”
“But when these things come about, she wants to do it so badly. She wants to even if it’s not her craft or she wants to learn,” the proud mom says of North.
“She just genuinely wants to do it and then the other kids will get voiceovers and then I’ll hear them so proud of each other when they do it, and want to go and support and they all want one.”
She goes on to say that it’s a tough situation because when her kids want to work, then she has to take a day off of her own work.
Noting that she feels she “has to” take her kids to school alongside her busy work schedule, Kardashian says she’s fallen into the “morning madness.”
“That’s just in my contracts, like no matter what I do, no matter work, like I have to take my kids to school,” Kardashian says. “That’s just my time with them. It’s the morning madness.”
“I love it. It’s amazing. And then when they work and I have to be there, I have to see every last thing. I’m just like, it has to be worth it for us to make a decision,” she continues.
“You know, if North has something and I have to take off filming to do something with her, it just has to be a family decision. And really important to her,” Kardashian adds.
“There’s so much that I’ve stopped because it’s too much, and I’m really not ready to be a momager, and I’m kind of forced into this.”
